The main screen, which we see most often, is dedicated to the needs of the settlement. On our screen we have a stylish, well-drawn city with a port and a bunch of slots for buildings. We install the buildings necessary for the infrastructure, improve them, set construction queues, and make sure that there are enough resources for new buildings, for creating ships, and for various gaming needs. At first there are no problems with this, but after an hour of play, a shortage of something vital appears, and we are forced to either wait until the resources we need are produced in our areas, or go to sea and fight for rewards.

In addition, our settlement is constantly being raided by pirates, every few minutes testing the strength of the flotilla remaining under our command. The Siege mode creates the necessary tension, preventing us from gaping and getting tired of constructing new buildings and expanding our sphere of influence. You are constantly being pushed to fight (even if the battle itself is far from tactical), and you always need to keep your fleet in order, fully prepared for battle. You never know what can happen.


The initial content for the combat part is limited to battles in global campaigns, which take us from one battle to another. Again, everything has been done to draw the player into the process as quickly as possible. Immediately, your ships are much stronger than those of the enemy. And you can fight easily without even looking at the formations. And you always receive bonuses, including the fact that even no one can really inflict damage on your boats.

All this breaks down on the reefs of reality, it’s worth playing for 2-3 days. Then you will suddenly discover that the whole game of giveaway is a thing of the past, and the harsh reality lies in the correct management of ships, the selection of the necessary types in different slots of the tactical formation, and fighting headlong with everyone who just appears on the map is not very profitable - after all, even if you win, but lose half of your active fleet, repairs will cost a pretty penny. And it won’t be clear whether you won or lost from the point of view of the game economy.

The further you get into the game, the more difficult it becomes. It doesn’t turn into a state of infernal complexity, when without an injection of money you immediately run into an invisible wall - no. You just have to not only mindlessly click on all the icons on the screen, but start thinking about the competent development of the settlement, choosing the right skills, saving resources, even about how to correctly position the ships in the formation before the next battle, so as to inflict damage immediately and on the first move, and at the same time not expose your strongest ships to a retaliatory strike right away. Depth emerges, based on simple and accessible mechanics. This means, on the one hand, anyone can figure it out, and on the other hand, even those who are looking for something non-standard are satisfied.

If we are talking about money, it would not be amiss to mention that “soft freemium” is used here, that is, a system in which, without an injection of funds, you are limited not so much in resources as in time. At first you simply don’t notice it, because the game generously rewards you and pleases you with gifts. The translation of some aspects of the game is unfinished, but there is hope that it will be corrected with patches, taking into account the wishes of gamers. And what we especially liked is that the game works in portrait mode, meaning you don’t need to flip the screen to play. It’s also quite convenient to operate with one hand, if you don’t need to go into various small menus for management, but want to quickly go through a couple of missions in the campaign.

You can’t do without the academy - scientists there conduct research that affects both the speed of resource production and the power of your fleet. The fortress is responsible for creating a garrison that will defend your port from sieges (and they happen here regularly). The library stores captain's logs, which can influence the basic parameters of ships - increasing their accuracy, ability to evade attacks, strength and stability.

In the future, when your governor level increases, you will be able to use workshops and factories, visit a tavern, a sailors' guild, and open an embassy. You will need all this for successful trading and effective battles.

You will not only have to withstand sieges, but also send your own flotillas: adventure expeditions along the routes of legendary captains, military campaigns, punitive missions to deal with especially malicious pirates and impudent bandits, or missions to explore new territories and their subsequent capture (even if these territories belong to other players).

As for the game's UI, it will take time to study it - it is very detailed and contains many elements. The top line of the screen is devoted to indicators of the amount of resources and the parameters of your character (experience, energy, combat power). The amount of your diamonds, the local premium currency, is also displayed here.

The entire upper right corner is dedicated to icons informing you about bonuses and gifts received, in-game events that have started, rewards for completing missions and regularly visiting the game.
