You must help her escape from prison. The target is Mel. Go to the security office and talk to Mel. After this, you will have several options to free it.

Release from prison

You can hack the terminal and launch Protectron, who will deal with the guards, and you can free Mel. In addition, the guards can simply be bribed (300 caps will be enough). You can also try to act secretly and steal the camera key from the guard. Another key is in the desk located in the office. If you have enough high level charisma, then the guard can be persuaded using politeness or threat.

When Mel is free, then return to the excavations in Good Neighborhood. Here you will meet Sonya. From here you will need to go through several dangerous tunnels. In each room you need to check the stone wall to find a fragile spot and ask Sonya to make a hole. Be prepared to face big amount swampers. Eventually you will end up in the old metro. There will be several wild ghouls in the room. Kill them, find more fragile walls and destroy them to get to new areas. Continue until you reach a solid wall. Find a side passage to the east. Here you will find Power Armor and three cores (one of them is inside the armor).

In the city of Good Neighborhood, you can take a quest from the ghoul Bobby to walkthrough of Excavations in Fallout 4. She will ask you to help dig something in the basement.

Basement

After talking to the woman, follow the map marker. When you get there, you will find a couple of workers. However, they will be scared away by the swampers. Kill them and talk to Bobbie, who will appear after they die. She will ask you to meet her in Diamond City. A female ghoul plans to rob the city mayor.

Diamond City

Go to the bar where the robot bartender works and find Bobby wearing a gas mask. This time her request is that a certain Mel needs to be pulled out of prison. Free the character in any of the following ways:

  • Activate the Protectron through the terminal so that it attacks the guards.

Robbery

You all meet together at the ghoul. Mel will come with the robot Sonya, whose task is to break through the passage. Next, the Excavation quest consists of telling the robot which walls to smash. At the same time, you clear the basements of monsters.

The first time you need to choose whether to break the wall on the left or on the right. After making a hole on the left, you will encounter the king of the mires. Kill him and take him power armor(model depends on character level). To get to the vault, hit the wall on the right.

IN certain moment the beams will overwhelm Sonya. Pick up a military microcircuit from it - they get it from it.

As a result of all actions, you will be taken to the warehouse of Hancock - Mayor Good Neighbor. At the same time, it is protected.

Choosing a side

If you remain on the customer's side, kill the guards. Take the Ashbringer weapon from Fahrenheit's body. Receive a reward from the ghoul - 200 caps. Hancock will later meet in the city, who will impose a fine of 1000 caps and demand that Bobby be killed.

By siding with the mayor, you can try to convince Bobby (if you have enough Charisma) to leave the vault. Fahrenheit herself will give you the Ashbringer. If you fail, you kill the customer. wants to become your partner.

Bugs

There is a bug in the Excavation quest in Fallout 4. Sometimes players do not find the customer at the meeting point. Use console command to summon an NPC: moveto player 0002768a.

Some players couldn't start hitting the last wall. If you are in power armor, get out of it, talk to Mel and send the robot on the mission again.

Acquaintance

Head northeast from Old Attius Farm to the Kolbjorn Barrow. On the spot you will meet the Dunmer in upset feelings. It turns out that Ralis Sedarys arrived from Mournhold to conduct excavations and obtain valuable relics for which there is already a customer. However, it turned out that it was impossible to carry out excavations alone, the entrance was too deep, and the ashes filled the hole faster than you could dig it out. Ralis needs a partner who would finance the enterprise, the profits will be fairly divided. Agree to participate. You will need 1000 gold, and Ralis promises to send a note when there is something to look at.

Having received the note, you are not obliged to run to the excavations, but you should not delay: the whole process will take enough time, and you are not going to wait your whole life for the end of this story.

First visit

Having received the news, go to the excavation site. Ralis wasted no time; the entrance was discovered. But the Dunmer meets you with alarming news: the draugr, awakened by the work, killed all the diggers, he himself barely escaped, and in general a dead end was discovered, it is unclear how to go further.

Go down and destroy all the draugr. Remove the skull from the table in the central lower hall. A passage will open. Inspect the new room, it is completely littered, but in a prominent place rests a relic - Ahzidal's Boots of Waterwalking. Go to Ralis, he will demand another 2000 septims to continue the work. Give the money.


Second visit

The next note says that you are needed urgently. It turns out something terrible happened. They felled the draugra in a heap again. Two diggers are missing and the rest are killed. Your task, of course, is to get rid of the restless and find the missing.

Having descended, we see that there are indeed corpses of workers and a cloud of draugr all around. We deal with the adversaries and reach the place where Azidal’s boots were. You can hear that the Wall of Words is somewhere nearby, but it is probably under rubble.


We go down into the central tunnel. Along the way, the body of one of the missing is discovered. We pull the chains a couple of times and a passage to the left opens. In front of us is a door with four handles; we pull the second one from the top and the lowest one to get through. If you saw the body of the second missing person, get ready for a warm welcome. When you're done with the draugr, don't forget to look to the left, there's another handle at the bottom that will open secret room with Ahzidal's Ring of Necromancy. Return to Ralis, who will now require 3000 septims.


Third visit

New note. Having arrived at the place, you see that the picture is not so sad: at least there are living people: workers and security guards. Sedaris says that the draugr are again preventing the excavations from continuing. Please note that there are diaries on the table in front of the Dunmer. Read them, and part 22 especially carefully. Ralis mentions some invisible friend/master and complains that the workers are too clumsy to quickly run across the tiles, stepping on each one.


Go down into the tomb. Deal with the draugr and go into the central hall with the column, then to the second tier - to where you left last time. Go left, in front of you there will be a locked door with an “expert” level lock, however, there is nothing special behind it, except for spiders and a chest with a trap. Walk along the first tier towards the central hall, as if going back. In the room closest to the exit from this section of the ruins there is a new, previously hidden door and a chain in the wall. Pull the chain - this will open a secret room. To get into it, go back and turn right, there you will see a pedestal with Ahzidal's Gauntlets of Warding, which weaken wards by 25%, but make it possible to absorb 50% of the magic from spells directed at you.


Return to the room with the chain. Now open the door, which will cause a cave-in and kill a couple of draugr waiting for you below. Go further and finish off the remaining restless ones. You can already return to Ralis, but it makes sense to examine everything first. In front of you Big hall, on the right is a locked gate, behind which you can see a pedestal with a ring. You can pull out the ring using telekinesis (but it's not easy), or you'll have to remember what you read in Ralis' diary. Inspect the floor: when you step on a tile, it glows for a short time. Try to quickly run around all the tiles so that they all glow at the same time (shouting “Slow Time” won’t hurt), the gate will open and you can take Ahzidal’s Ring of Arcana, which allows you to cast the new “Freeze” spells " (Freeze) and "Ignite".

In the hall on the left there is a staircase to the top, go up, slide past the swinging axes, pull the chain ring that is directly above the door, and you will find yourself in the central hall with a column. Return to Ralis, this time he needs 5000 gold. What can you do... you have to give it.


Fourth visit

A few days later, wait again for the courier with a note, he says that he will no longer carry letters, he feels uneasy about this place.

This is my last visit to Kolbjorn. Please note that it will not be harmful to stock up on items that provide fire resistance, the “Candle Light” spell, or torches.

Arriving at the mound, you will see that everyone is dead: both the workers and the guards. Go into Ralis's tent, he himself is not there, but there are his diaries. Read the last, 23rd notebook. It becomes clear that the archaeologist is not himself, he is going to revive the powerful ancient magician Azidal.


Go to the central hall of the tomb. Ralis managed to completely dig up the Word Wall, and you can learn the shout word "Cyclone".


Now head to where Azidal's ring of magic was located. Already at the entrance you are greeted by draugr. Deal with them, go to the far end of the hall and go down the stairs. Ahead you will see a small hall where the restless are sitting on thrones. Put them to rest completely and look around. In the corner room behind the bars, Ahzidal's Armor of Retribution is visible. On the side walls of the chain, if you pull them, the stones will begin to rotate, showing obelisks with images of fish. In the center there are similar obelisks. Place them so that they face you images of fish appear, and pull the lever. Access to the armor is open, but the exit from the room is blocked by a grate.


Rotate the images so that two eagles are visible and pull the lever again. A round passage in the floor opened. Get down, overcoming the resistance of the inhabitants of the tomb. On the right is the lattice covering the last relic - Ahzidal's Helm of Vision. Set the images so that two snakes are looking at you, pull the ring - and the helmet is yours. Be careful, flames will burst out of the pedestal.


Now go left, you will find yourself in front of the door and hear Ralis call: "Azidal, arise!" No matter how much you hurry, Dragon Priest will be awakened. This is a powerful mage who specializes in fire spells and can revive the dead. Keep in mind that as soon as you deal with him, all the undead will fall asleep in eternal sleep. Defeating Azidal will earn you a new mask that increases fire resistance by 50% and damage from fire spells by 25%.

You now have to decide the fate of Ralis. He explains that he was bewitched and had little idea what he was doing. Yes, it was he who killed the workers, making sacrifices to Azidal.

You can have mercy and promise not to tell anyone about what happened, then the Dunmer will stop at Raven Rock and will be ready to accompany you on your travels if you so desire. If you think that such actions should be punished, you will have to kill Ralis. He won't have your money, but he will get the unique Hoarfrost pickaxe.


Exit the hall to the southwest. A short journey through the tunnel, and you find yourself in the real sanctuary of Hermaeus Mora with his huge statue, and on the pedestal lies the Black Book of Filament and Filigree.

Reading the book initiates the quest Black Book: Filament and Filigree. Upon returning from Apocrypha, exit the room to the left, pull the lever and a staircase will appear leading to the central hall of the tomb.

Coming out of the mound, you will find that the archaeologist’s camp has mysteriously disappeared.

To the northeast of Attia Farm is the Kolbjorn Mound. Near the mound you can meet a distressed Dunmer - Ralis Sedaris.


If you start a dialogue with him, he will say that he is a treasure hunter and there must be a treasure hidden in this mound, which he is not able to get on his own, since he cannot cope with the ashes that constantly cover new excavations. In order for the excavations to be successful, he requires investments in an amount equal to a thousand septims.




A few days after you gave him the gold to carry out excavations, a courier will find you and give you a note. Having received it, head to the excavations.


Sedaris, seeing you, will share sad news: during work, the miners awakened the draugr, and the latter destroyed the workers, and Ralis himself barely managed to escape. In addition, they have hit a dead end and cannot figure out where to move next. After completing the dialogue, continue the passage of Excavations in Skyrim, deal with the draugr and find a passage into the depths of the mound (to do this, you need to take the skull from the altar, after which the passage to the next section will open on its own).


After examining the opened room, you will find a valuable item - Azidal's boots of walking on water, after which return to Sedaris and talk to him. This time he will need two thousand septims to hire new miners. Give him the money and forget about the excavations for a few days.


Soon you will again receive an invitation to the mound. Arriving there, you will understand that another attack by the draugr caused the death of many workers, and two miners completely disappeared without a trace. You need to destroy the draugr again and find the missing workers (unfortunately, no longer alive).


Going down into the tunnel, you will find the body of one of the missing.


By activating the chains, you will open the road to the left. There, for further passage, you need to pull the second from the top and the lowest handle. Behind the body of another worker, an attack by draugr awaits you.


Having dealt with them, pay attention to the last section of the excavated mine: near the body of Mireli there is a switch, after activating which you will gain access to a secret room in which you can find a ring of necromancers.

One of the most difficult and confusing quests in the fifth part of the “Old Scrolls” universe is the “Excavation” task. "Skyrim" invites players to complete it as an additional mission for rewards and interesting plot. This task should not be ignored by all those people who love fighting monsters in the middle of Dwemer ruins and searching for hidden treasures.

Start of the mission

In order to begin the "Excavation" quest, "Skyrim" invites the user to move in a northeast direction from the Attiya farm. If you follow the given direction, you can get out not far from the Kolbjorn mound. It is there that users will meet a dark elf named Ralis Sedaris. During the conversation, he will talk about unsuccessful attempts to start excavating the mound and ask the main character to invest in his business. A deposit of one thousand gold pieces will allow the player to continue going about his business until a courier from Ralis finds him a few days later and delivers disturbing news.

First battles

The mission "Excavation" ("Skyrim") began unsuccessfully, and the leader of the case, Sedaris, will report this. He will say that in the process of advancing, the miners encountered restless draugr, who killed the entire team. The player will have to enter the mound and clear out the monsters.

After killing them, you need to pick up the skull from the altar in order to open a passage to a new part of the location. The interesting thing here is that the object must be taken from the pedestal. If it comes off, put it back and then take it off again. Only in this way will the path further open, and it will be possible to begin progress.

Immediately after passing, the player will find a tunnel blocked, which only new miners can break. There is also an item here called Azidal's Water Walking Boots, which has useful enchantments attached to it. After discovering the blockage, you can return to Sedaris and report news about the completion of the task. He will ask for two thousand gold to hire new workers and buy equipment. You give the gold and go to wait for the messenger.

Next visits

The visit of the messenger will again remind the player of the troubles with the task in the game "Skyrim" ("Excavations"). Completing the mission will again force him to return and kill the draugr, who came to life and killed all the miners for the second time. This time the player will have to go even deeper.

Following the central tunnel, the user can open a passage to the left (to do this, pull the second and lower levers) and there will see several more dead workers. After this, you need to kill the last group of enemies, and in the secret room near the corpse of the worker you can pick up the Azidal Ring of Necromancy artifact.

Return to report on the progress of the mission to Ralis, who will ask for three thousand. Give us the gold and wait for the messenger. The third time you will have to return and clear the central hall with the second tier again. Carefully examine the locations, because there are various secret doors with valuable items and chests.

Go to the door with the chain and pull it. A collapse will begin, blocking the passage. After this, you can return to Ralis again. The elf will ask for another five thousand gold in order to continue. If you give this amount, then the task in the game "Skyrim" ("Excavations: Kolbjorn - mound") will continue.

Ralis' solution

The next arrival at the scene will indicate that Ralis has betrayed you and decided to resurrect the powerful priest Azidal. This will be revealed in his diaries, which could be found throughout the mission in the camp. The player should head to the place where Azidal's Ring was found. After several battles, the user will reach a room where you can pick up valuable armor in the “Excavation” mission.

Skyrim will demonstrate a simple puzzle here. To enter, you need to place the fish the way they move when you pull the chain. To get out of this room, you need to place two images of an eagle so that a hole opens in the floor. Go through it into the room where Azidalov's helmet will be - the last part set of armor. You can move further and hear the screams of Ralis, who has already completed the ritual of summoning Azidal.

The battle and the end of the quest

Upon entering the central hall, the battle with Azidal will begin - strong magician fire that can summon monsters. It's best to focus the damage on him and avoid attacks from other draugr. After victory, the user will have to decide the fate of Ralis, who used the money for his own purpose. If you spare the bewitched elf, he will become an ally and can be taken for future battles. When killed from Relis's corpse, the player will take unique item White frost in the form of a pickaxe.

It is better to exit this hall through the southwestern tunnel, which will lead to the statue of Hermaeus Mora. There on a pedestal lies a book that allows you to start a new task for this Daedric prince. Players should know that completing the mission in Kolbjorn Mound is not connected with another similar quest in the Skyrim game - Ansilvund: Excavations.
