Map Garmin Topo Active UK is completely free, available for download on compatible Garmin navigators and watches. The data is based on OpenStreetMap (OSM), in addition to the map there is a layer for quick calculation of routes (works with compatible navigators of the GPSMAP 66 series, Fenix 5 Plus series of watches). The map is divided into two parts, East and West. There is no address search on the map, but there is a search for objects.

To use the navigator you need:

  • create a Garmin directory on a blank microSD card
  • copy the files TopoActiveRussia_East_D7554000B.img and TopoActiveRussia_West_D7553000B.img to this directory.

To use the Basecamp app and display these maps on your computer:

  • launch Basecamp and wait for the maps to load and display.

To use a Garmin watch you must:

Read more about OSM in hiking and mountain tourism, viewing from a computer when planning a route, editing a map here:. (Yes, there are passes there, including those from the Vestra catalog, relief, depth of fords, etc.)

Openstreetmaps are very detailed, especially in tourist-frequented areas. And they can be changed and completed by the users themselves, which makes them universal. It is more convenient and faster to work with them in a navigator than with raster maps of the General Staff. To travel across rugged terrain, you just need to add contour lines to these maps. For viewing on a computer, this was done at opentopomap.org. Also available at nakarte.me.

The more tourists who know this information, the more detailed the maps will be, so spread the word.

And here is a short video for those who want to start editing OSM: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7UdJrX8nGM

Join my hikes through the group on VKontakte: https://vk.com/shuriktravel. There is a schedule of planned events, but it’s easier to join the group, and then you will receive invitations to go on trips (do you have permission for invitations to events in your settings?)

UPD: For working with OSM screen mobile phone install the LOCUS application (there is also a package of maps from here, where there are maps of the General Staff, satellite images and many others) and there select the Cyclo map (OpenCycleMap) or OpenTopoMap.

On a note

Can good map be free? As you can see, this is normal! All our employees, avid motorists and admirers of Garmin navigators, for a long time and persistently did not want to take into account the fact that smartphones have almost completely replaced car navigators as a class. Why did this happen? The answer is very simple - publicly accessible interactive maps.

A few years ago I was offered to travel with a simple Android smartphone and an application installed on it Yandex.Navigator. This application, as well as a similar program Yandex maps, are absolutely free and available to everyone. However, now there is no need to prove to anyone that they are MANY times better and more practical than any “city navigators” and “Navitels”.

On the World Wide Web Lately appeared great amount cards that, unfortunately, some sites want to sell. Our store contains only unique information products. Only here you can download a map of the Sverdlovsk region for free in just one click. We cannot hide from users what has long been in the public domain. For example, here you can find Garmin topo maps for free. A navigator is a fairly expensive purchase, so it may be that there is not enough money for maps. In any case, when you buy such a device, you win, but you can use it for now free cards which are presented in this section.

What are Garmin Introductory Maps

This is proprietary software prepared by us. Professional cards, which come for a fee, have a much larger number of options. In order to understand whether they are needed, you need to establish the purpose of your trips. If it’s just going out into nature with your family, then just buy a navigator in our store and download free topographic maps Garmin. If you are engaged in serious multi-day hikes (including ATV hikes), then buy professional cards eventually you will have to.

What else can you find here?

Download free gps Garmin maps and more. Information here will be gradually updated, we will display maps prepared by us for free use. Hello. You can use the tourist assemblies posted. There is both the Russian Federation as a whole and individual regions. Please note that in a complete map of the Russian Federation, searching by address will not work; use assemblies by region (for example, the Central Federal District).

Anton

Hello, the Garmin Oregon 300 has maps of the hunting grounds of the Chelyabinsk region.

Good afternoon
No, we do not have specialized cards for hunters. Only standard topographic ones.

Sergey

Hello. Please tell me if it is possible to upload a map of the depths of lakes in the north-west to the Garmin Nuvi 205 car reg. Will it work? If so, where can I get the link? Thanks for any answer.

Hello!
There is a map "Inland Waters of Russia" (Bluechart), but it is intended primarily for chart plotters and echo sounders. In theory, it should work on any Garmin, but we haven't tested it. Nowadays we practically don’t deal with such cards anymore.

ANDREY

Hello, please tell me is it necessary to install the card on a flash drive or can it be installed in the navigator itself if there is space there? Thank you!

Hello!
No, not necessarily, you can use internal memory.

Ivan

Is it possible to download your maps to your phone and then to your Garmin travel navigator?

Hello!
If you mean is it possible to download a card to MicroSD on a smartphone and then insert it into the navigator, then it’s probably possible to do this, but we haven’t checked. The map should be placed in the garmin folder located in the root of the memory card.

Vladimir
