Trailer

The release date is the time point after which the game is considered released, which usually means that it can already be downloaded and tried if purchased licensed copy. For example, the release date of Metro Exodus is February 15, 2019.

Recently, more and more often, developers allow you to buy a game in advance - make a pre-order. In response to support from potential buyers who believe in the success of the project so much that they give money for it even before release, the developers share various bonuses and exclusive materials. This could be a soundtrack, an art book, or some mini-addons for the game.

Thus, pre-order actually allows you to buy the game before its official release, but this does not mean that the stated release date loses its significance, since you can fully play it only after release.

Why do you need to know game release dates?

If only because it’s more convenient to plan your time and finances. If you know, for example, when Metro Exodus will be released, then it will be easier for you to navigate: set aside money in advance to purchase it, plan things so that you can immerse yourself in the game as soon as it comes out.

Many gamers track game release dates using special calendars and feature articles about the most important releases of the month or season. You can find both of these on our game portal website

How do developers choose the time to release?

They are guided by many factors at once. Firstly, it is important for them to know that their target audience will be able to immediately join the gameplay, so games are released less often during the holiday season, as well as in those months when work is usually busy and students are in session.

Secondly, for a successful release, developers try to compare their plans with announcements of potential competitors. For example, if we're talking about about a shooter, then releasing it simultaneously with the new Battlefield or Call of Duty is not very smart.

Thirdly, the release date indicates the so-called deadline - the very point after which the game is ready. This means that it must be completed within the stated time frame. Alas, this does not always work out, and therefore the release date of the game may be shifted one or even several times.

In addition to this, the release of Metro Exodus on PC and consoles may differ - often developers try to release one version first, and only then move on to the next.

It’s not Oscar-worthy and can’t boast of any unexpected twists, however, this story was able to greatly surprise me and leave a mark on my soul. I don’t know if this was due to the deep atmosphere along with pleasant graphics or whether the characters’ dialogues helped to evoke such emotions, but in any case I can say that the game is worthy of attention, if only for the touching ending that will make even brutal men shed a tear.

Today I will tell you the plot of the game from beginning to end. We will watch from the perspective of Artyom, the main character of the Metro series. How it all began and what his actions led to, let's find out.

Forbidden Territory

My next foray to the surface in search of a radio signal from outside Moscow ended in failure. We also met guards on the way back, nasty beasts. Well, the guys arrived on time, if it weren’t for the Prince, Damir, Alyosha and the Idiot - my friends, I wouldn’t have reached our station...

They dragged him home barely alive. The doctor gave me a transfusion, saved me again, but said it was the last time. Too often you have to waste precious blood and medicine on me. But I’m not going to give up trying to find another life.

I went on my next outing with Anya, my beloved wife. We decided to try to catch a signal in the restricted area, at first it was not clear why it was called that, but soon we found out everything...

We failed to catch the signal, but on the way back we saw something more interesting - a train, a real train moving along the tracks. Where did he come from in abandoned Moscow? Well, it turns out he skated here often, but they forgot to tell us about it.

Before Anya and I had time to rejoice at our find, soldiers with machine guns rushed in, under our arms, and into the car. There was another guy and a grandmother sitting in the back, they said that they had come from the surrounding area, a small village about 200 kilometers from Moscow. It turns out that there is still life outside the city limits? And apparently they carefully hid it from us, damn

Ganzovites.

Having learned that Anya is the daughter of Colonel Melnik, one of the members of the Order, we would have been released, but only the granny and her grandson were brought to some ditch to be shot. I couldn’t leave it like that, I had to help them out, because only they knew the truth that being outside the capitals...

The result is not very pleasant, a shot is fired, and here I am lying in a heap of corpses, piled with the bodies of new acquaintances. No, the token that stopped the cartridge did not let me die, but the mark in the sternum will remain for a long time. It's time to get out of this grave and find Anya...

Hans base

The first person I was lucky enough to meet at the base was Ermak, the driver of the train we saw. These bastards put him in a cell, which means we can definitely come to an agreement with him.

Ermak agreed to help me find Anya and take us out of Moscow, we have nothing more to do here, it’s time to look for a place that will become a real home for us. I found her and the local boss. It turns out that Moscow was surrounded by a wall of blockers that prevented signals from being sent or received outside the city.

According to the officer, there is still a war going on there and even after 20 years, the American occupiers are terrorizing our country. The blockers were created to protect Moscow from this. But now this is no longer important, we are leaving to see for ourselves what is happening outside the capital.

The train is ready, Ermak kept his promise, it’s time to hit the road!

Nobody will leave Moscow

We didn't manage to go too far. A few meters later, the locomotive was stormed by a special forces team. “Everyone is gone,” they said, there’s just one thing, the main one in this special group was Colonel Melnik, and the rest were Idiot, Prince, Stepan, Sam, Tulsky, Damir and Alyosha. They had an order from the Moscow command to stop us, but going against friends and family is too much.

Disregarding all the laws and rules, we threw the remaining Hansovites out of the train. They gave the steel horse the name “Aurora” and decided to head for the government bunker in Yamantau, where, in theory, the entire Russian leadership is located. They need to be told that Moscow is alive, because they don’t know. We are here, we are still breathing...

First obstacle

The air is clean, you can finally be on the surface without a gas mask, how long have we been waiting for this? After 776 kilometers from Moscow we reached the Volga, where there were some buildings on the left and right sides of the railway, and here a surprise awaited us.

In the fog, we did not notice the trolley and the patrol standing on it. They shot at the locomotive and damaged the cylinder. Ermak said that it would take time to repair. In order not to sit, we go with Anya for reconnaissance, perhaps we will be able to find out who opened fire on us and what other surprises we should expect.

When I heard the sound of the bells, the first thing I did was visit the local church; Anya stayed on the tower to cover me. It turned out that the residents of the village are fanatics who worship the King Fish and have completely abandoned electricity, and everyone who uses it is called heretics. They did not provide us with a warm welcome, so we had to get out of there as quickly as possible.

On the way back, I met a girl with her daughter, Nastya and Katya, whom these sectarians locked in the attic of the house. While I was distracting the enemy, Anya helped the girls escape, and the next surprise awaited me...

While crossing the lake by boat to get back, I met a local catfish, 5 meters in length. This fish grabbed the boat and chewed it in half like a piece of bread, it’s good that the Prince was on shore and helped him get out.

I've had enough of these fanatics, it's time to get out of this place as quickly as possible, this is not the kind of “paradise” we were looking for. Melnik set 3 tasks:

  1. Find the Cross that lives on the crane. He doesn’t seem to be a fanatic, but he has golden hands, so he will quickly help fix our Aurora.
  2. Attach an additional carriage to the train. There's a workbench and living quarters, so it won't be superfluous.
  3. Lower the bridge. While it is in a raised state, the road further is closed to us.

I quickly started completing all the tasks. The first two turned out to be simple, but how to get to the bridge without being noticed?

Cross said that in the evenings a caravan on a barge comes to the port. Our goal is to capture it by any means. Anya asked me not to kill these people because, in essence, they are simple traders. I promised I wouldn't and I kept my word.

The Prince and I ended up on the bridge, where we found that same preacher and persuaded him to let him through, without any casualties. This time we managed to avoid death and continue on our way to our dream...

Dinner party

A few weeks later we arrived at the bunker. Officers, generals, the Russian government and thousands of people who escaped after a nuclear disaster - all this did not happen, instead, we found other monsters...

Hunger, isolation and other factors turned the bunker's inhabitants into voracious cannibals. They looked like people, talked like people, moved like people, but they were not people; they had lost their human essence a long time ago. Now, these creatures kept the heads of visitors in refrigerators, whom they lured with promising speech. We were one of these fools...

At the entrance, only me, Anya and Melnik went to meet with the locals, Sam and the Idiot remained upstairs - this played a key role. When we were captured and were about to be minced meat, the guys saved us. We got out of this damned place, along the way killing almost every creature that wanted to feast on us, but what to do next? No one knew this, because this bunker was our hope for salvation...

The decision was made to go to Caspian-1, another government bunker, but this time not for help. In it you can find satellite images that show which places were most affected by a nuclear attack, and where you can live. With the help of these maps we will find the ideal place to settle and finally stop running...

Hell on earth

The road to the Caspian Sea took a lot of time and effort. More than 4000 kilometers from Moscow, it’s too late to go back, and it won’t be possible. The water is running out and the Aurora has run out of fuel, at most we will manage another few hundred miles, but then what? The scorching sun of the Caspian Sea and wild thirst have already put several of our comrades to bed, we can’t hesitate, it’s time to make a decision...

The Neftyaniki, local raiders, settled in the sun-scorched desert. We will find water and fuel from them, but first to the bunker, for maps, because this is precisely why we have come such a long way.

I got the pictures. A suitable place for living has been found, but it is too early to go to it; now we need to find water and fuel.

We found water in local mines where slaves worked for the Oilers. In the sultry desert, this was the only place with drinking water. We had to try not to kill the slaves and sneak past the guards, but Damir and I did it and stole a truck with vital liquid, all that remained was to get fuel and our journey to continue.

The final task turned out to be more difficult than we thought. I had to come face to face with the Baron, the local leader. Word for word, shootout, Baron flies into the abyss, everything is as usual. It’s a pity that Damir decided to stay and help his people rise from slavery, we will miss him.

It's time to go, the paradise that we have dreamed of for so long awaits us...

Sad news

The train is quietly rolling east, everyone is relaxing, and Stepan and Katya are preparing for the wedding. It looks like we'll have a real holiday today, for the first time in for a long time.

So we gathered at the table. Toasts, conversations about spiritual things, wishes to lovers, when suddenly everything was overshadowed by unexpected news. Anya is very sick. While scouting the area on the Volga, she fell into the basement, where she inhaled gas, which gradually destroyed her lungs, and she died.

The only cure, which can save Anya’s life, is located in Novosibirsk, at the Military Research Center, but what about the place to which we traveled for so long?

You can't risk all lives. In 2 days we will arrive at our future home, where we will leave all the guys, and we ourselves, with the colonel, will go for medicine. I hope we make it in time...

New house?

Taiga, this is our new home without radiation. Fresh air, hydroelectric power station, mountains and fantastic landscapes are an ideal place for an ideal life, but you should not make past mistakes.

Before the Aurora moves forward, Alyosha and I will reconnoiter the situation on the handcar. In any case, we need to act faster, Anya is getting worse and Fresh air doesn't help much...

Who knew that Railway here it is in such a deplorable state... We rolled off a cliff into the lake, and that’s where we met the locals. Alyosha was taken away, and some girl saved me, she didn’t want the others to notice us, what was happening here...

Having explored the area in more detail, I realized that we were in Kid `s camp, who worked even before the war. After the disaster, local children stayed here and over the course of 20 years grew into adult boys and girls. They were trained by one teacher who helped them master hunting and survival skills; now these “children” are more dangerous than raiders from the Caspian Sea. Here you can see the corpses of rapists, thieves and bandits hanging on pillars, which serve as a warning about the danger of this place.

Remember the girl who saved me? Her name is Olya, she is one of the Children of the Forest, as they call themselves, but unlike others, she does not want to kill. Olya helped Alyosha escape and showed me the way. I hope nothing happens to her for this...

I met Alyosha. Our house turned out to be not as reliable as planned. The dam that held back the entire lake is about to break, and the entire valley will be completely flooded. We definitely can’t stay here, so we’ll move on. First of all, you will have to go to Novosibirsk for medicine, and only then think about where to look for a new place for home...

last hope

Radiation in the city is off the charts, so you will have to move underground, in the good old metro. Our goal is the Research Institute of Extreme Medicine, where the very medicine that will save Anya’s life is located. Such a sortie is mortally dangerous, so Melnik and I are going - it’s our task to get her medicine and no one else’s.

When we went down to the subway, we found hundreds of dead. The bodies are no more than a year old, which means people have also lived here for a long time, but the question is, is there anyone left?

On the way, we managed to meet a living boy, he told us that a war had started here and all the survivors had died. Some died from a lack of medicine, some from a bullet, others from mutants and radiation. Only a small detachment of fighters and a boy survived. He was left to look after security while the others went in search of the maps.

There should be pictures of other safe places to live.

Melnik and I split up, I went for the medicine, and he went in search of the boy’s father, who was supposed to find the cards we needed...

There are notes from people scattered everywhere. They survived with difficulty, but the medicine was running out, and radiation began to take its toll, people began to die in the hundreds, and that same war began, the consequences of which we have already seen.

Approaching the surface, the background began to go off scale, I began to see hallucinations... Anya was in them, she asked to help her, but this is just an illusion, I need to quickly get to the medicine and get out of here.

I'm at the limit... Hallucinations are starting to appear more and more often, and even a new mutant has appeared - a gorilla, judging by the lack of eyes, she has telepathy, I constantly hear her voice, it's driving me crazy...

When I got to the research institute, I found a cure, but this blind creature also found me. In our attempts to escape, we both fell from the third floor into the snow. I was luckier, because an iron pin was sticking out of the monkey’s chest, and an icicle was firmly nailed to its head. Although lucky is a strong word, I can no longer move, the radiation is burning me from the inside, but I must deliver the medicine to Anya...

The miller found me on the street. He injected me with his dose of anti-rad and got behind the wheel, trying to take us to the Aurora. I woke up after a while, the colonel was sitting unconscious, and the boy was trying to start this car, but didn’t know how. With the last of my strength I got behind the wheel, I don’t remember how I drove, the last thing that pops up in my head is the faces of the friends I saw...

End of the road

I remember in fragments how they carried me onto the train and laid me on the couch. The miller is dead, he saved me and the boy at the cost of his life, was able to fight off a flock of guards and even take us halfway back...

Katya said that they can’t live with such a dose of radiation, the only thing that will save my life is a blood transfusion. I remember how I closed my eyes and saw the colonel. He asked for forgiveness, said that he was to blame for everything and told me to look after Anya. I will keep my promise and will definitely take us to a place where we can live.

A year has passed since we left Moscow, and now we are standing on the edge of a cliff near Lake Baikal and looking at our new home. We have found our ideal place. The medicine turned out to be a real miracle and quickly cured Anya, and thanks to my friends I was able to survive to keep my promise to Melnik...

Possible alternatives

The game has its own variability, and some points may change. I told my story, but there are options when on the Volga bridge, the Prince dies, when Damir leaves with us, and Artem in the end does not survive the lethal dose of radiation.

It all depends on the player’s decisions, on how he played the game. Want to good ending? Stealth to help, you shouldn’t shoot in every situation, try to go through quietly and without killing.
