American billiards rules

Beginners all over the world love it American billiards or pool (eight, nine). It is easier to play it than Russian. Billiard tables are smaller (3.6 m long, 85 cm high, 1.85 m wide) and the pockets are wider. The cues are of high quality for a professional game. There are only 15 balls. All of them are numbered and colored. Smaller than in Russian billiards.

The balls are arranged in a standard triangle. Close. They hit the cue ball with the tip of a cue with a sticker and break the pyramid in this way. If a player misses, he is awarded a full. When this object ball does not enter the pocket, the partner makes the move.

First move

Who starts playing pool? Playing out. Set the balls on the table in a triangle. The cue ball is at the front edge and each of the participants hits it, breaking the pyramid. The ball aimed according to the rules touches the side located behind, bounces and stands approximately at the place from which it was hit. Is your ball closer to the start? Make the first strike or draw lots, for example, from 2 matches. Find out who starts and play a game of pool.

A game

The game is considered to be ordered. The pool player says which ball on the field he wants to pocket? He has an advantage if he hits. The pool is such that the initial blow is not custom-made. The ball hits directly into the pocket, which means that the next of the blows follows him, and if not, the move goes to a friend.

There are 15 balls in total. 7 of them are fully colored. 7 striped. 1 stands out from the group. He is an eight. The goal of the pool game is such that everyone quickly sends all the balls from their composition into the pockets, for example, striped ones, and then scores the 8th - this same eight. Whoever completes the task first wins the game.

Here you need to hit more accurately. The rules of the game state that the cue ball must touch the ball, several of its members. You need to drive 1 or more into the pocket. Otherwise, let the cue ball or your ball (target) touch the rim. American billiards is not difficult, but requires skill.
Played the balls wrong when things like this start:

  1. The blow was made incorrectly.
  2. For one of the reasons, the required ordered ball was not played.
  3. Billiards wagering was announced before the blow occurred.
When your ball jumps out of the field, then your move will go to a friend. The eight will fall and it will be considered that you have lost.

Violations

When a player has violated something, he has no right to continue a series of strikes at the table. Balls that are pocketed incorrectly will lie in those pockets. Only nine, eight are raised on the table. The opponent who beats after him does it "from his hand" The cue ball is allowed to be placed anywhere on the table. If there is one hit and 2 or more infractions, then the rules of the game consider this one big infraction.

push out

A player who made 2 strokes after the 1st correct (initial) may push out. Can put the cue ball in such a way that it will be more profitable and accurate to hit. With a “push-out”, the cue ball does not always touch a ball, reaches the side, but other rules of the game are valid.

“Push-out” is announced by you or your partner before the blow itself or it is considered ordinary. A ball pocketed during a “push-out” does not count. He lies in a hole. The rules of the game say that only a nine or eight is drawn onto the table. When, when using the “push out”, you violated one of the rules, the comrade will play next. He hits the cue ball from your position or wants to concede to the player who made the “push out”. That's what the rules of the game say.

If the “push-out” is done so that the “wrong touch” or the ball is not brought to the boards, this option is considered correct. The pool states that an incorrectly done “push out” will be penalized. How? It depends on the violation. There are situations when you make the opening shot and the cue ball goes straight into the pocket. In this case, the opponent behind you cannot exercise the right to hit the “push-out”. The pool is simple but strict.

In what other cases will you be considered a loser? Consider them:

  1. The rules are broken.
  2. The eight flew overboard.
  3. The eight was scored not in a custom-made, but in any other pocket.
  4. The eight was scored earlier than the balls from its composition and others.

In any game, you can quickly see who is the leader and who is the loser. It happens that partners go on an equal footing and who wins is decided by a successful arrangement of balls on the field and an accurate shot. There is a variant in which both make some mistakes 3 times in a row. The situation is stalemate. To determine the real winner, they conduct an additional game and find out.

Violation when jumping or mass is executed

Don't have a judge? You yourself will notice violations when a mass (or rounding) or a jump is made. It happens that the object ball interferes and shifts when you stop, by hand, by accident from the cue. Such a deviation from the rules will be recorded. Please follow this rule.

Didn't hit the board

A misplaced shot where one of your object balls misses the pocket. Moreover, the cue ball will touch the object ball, but neither he nor that ball will reach the side. There are similar situations.

Hit from the hand

When a player strikes from his hand, he places the cue ball in a free spot on the playing table. You cannot do this by touching the object ball itself. Before making a strike, rearrange your cue ball to a convenient point on the field.

Object balls can pop up

Ball over the field? So, the rules of the pool game are violated. Those object balls that jump out will not be on the field again until the end of the game. Put back nine, eight. They will be placed on the playing field.

Touch wrong

A shot is illegal when the cue ball touches a non-lowest numbered ball. That's what the rules of the game say.

3 violations one after another

If you or your opponent violates any of the rules 3 times in a row, then it is considered that he lost. If there are correct moves between these 3, then the right to strike only passes to you or from you. Anyone understands that these violations are committed in the game you play. After the 2nd violation, a warning follows. If 3 immediately comes, you or your opponent have lost.

The series starts from the moment you hit. It will end after hitting if you do not hit the pocket or break one of the rules. If your move brings victory or a situation where between your own blows you break some kind of rule.

End of the game

The beginning of a game in American billiards is considered from the moment when the cue ball passes through the front line at the initial blow. There is a nuance here that you need to hit the unit. The game will end if you or your partner correctly score a nine, an eight. If you make 3 violations in billiards in a row, one of the players is awarded a loss. The party will end early.

If you play American billiards as much as possible with a friend for your own pleasure, then most likely you will not have a third referee. If you take the 3rd player, who will temporarily be the judge, and then starts playing with the winner, then he will fix such violations.p>

The rules of the game are simple and intuitive. The main thing for billiards is to work out an accurate aimed strike and drive your solid or striped balls, and then a nine, eight into the pocket. Whoever manages to play billiards first, without scoring 3 violations in a row and without taking off, is the winner. Those are the rules. Stick to them, train, improve your skills.
