Bingo rules for children. Bingo Thematic Flashcards for English Lessons

Summer is such a time for picnics, field trips, short and long trips and various long street entertainment.

I don’t know about you - but I always take with me to such entertainment a couple of interesting development projects suitable for the road or for a picnic format.

On this summer occasion, I decided to make a series of articles about our favorite road-street-picnic books and games. I have already told about some of them: (we have not parted with it for more than a year - and still we will not find all the items from it 😊) and "Not bored" for long trips.

And today I will tell you about our favorite game, without which none of our picnic can do - “Bingo for Kids”.

What to do on a picnic with kids

I do not take my little kids for a picnic with me in order to spend every minute usefully.

On the one hand, this is not obvious: we are going to nature, to a picnic - to sit on the grass, eat snacks, run, jump, swim, have fun. But children, although groovy, still need rest. They cannot run endlessly, after a while they flop on a bench, a rug or whatever is there, and want to sit and catch their breath.

At this moment we always have problems: they no longer have the strength to run, and sitting is just so boring. Whining, disgracefulness begins - or they may simply fight while sitting upright.

And just for such a case, I take with me notebooks and games of a picnic format (I will tell you about the criteria of “appropriateness” later).

So, not a single picnic is complete without a box of "Bingo for Kids". Today we will talk about her.

Bingo for Babies - What is it and who is it for

The box itself is tiny, the size of a small stack of postcards. And inside she has cards with objects and flowers that you need to find live.

By the way, do you all know what bingo is? This is a game, bingo in our way; even on TV there is such a game of Stoloto (by the way, we play it with the children “for educational purposes”, I’ll tell you how to do it). In general, the meaning of bingo: the presenter takes out kegs with numbers from the bag, and the players look for them on their cards. Whoever closed all the numbers first won.

Bingo for Toddlers is named by analogy. The point of one of the games is to find all the pictures on your card as quickly as possible.

But in fact, there are much more games in this box than just bingo. The box also contains two more sets of cards with windows and an envelope. I will tell you about them later, but first I want to dwell on my beloved -

Who is this game for

The name “Bingo for Babies” hints that it is suitable for the smallest babies 2 years old. Perhaps you have not even looked at this game if your baby is 4-5 years old. But in vain.

In fact, the age range of the educational component of "Bingo for Kids" is from 1.5 - 2 years (yes) and boldly up to 6 - 7. But we will play slightly differently depending on age.

At 1.5-2 years old, we will learn to speak: study colors, memorize the names of objects and their graphic representations (yes, the kid's ability to correctly name the table in the room and the table in the picture as “table” are two different speech skills). At this age, a real game of “Bingo for Babies” on an equal footing will probably not even work: it will be a game of Mom and baby. Mom calls - the baby repeats.

But closer to 5 years, the baby in the brain begins to actively form the centers responsible for the mental operations of analysis, synthesis, comparison, and so on. By this age, it will already be possible to fully compete in “Bingo for Babies”, at the same time training the brain - not only for the baby, but also for the mother.

In addition, after age 5, we usually start teaching toddlers to read. And the cards from "Bingo for Babies" will come in handy here again - I'll talk about this below.

In general, playing it is interesting in adulthood. We even have a serious dad gets excited while playing and has fun with the kids 🙂

Okay, we figured it out with age - now I'll tell you in detail about all the games from this box.

How to play colors

The Bingo for Babies box contains several cards with flowers. On one side there is a colored circle, on the other - an empty window.

You can play these cards in different ways depending on the age of the baby.

If you practice “Bingo for Babies” with a toddler of 1.5 - 2 years old, it will not even be quite a game. Mom will take the card, point at an object of some color and say: “Look - it's blue. The circle in the picture is blue. The shirt is also blue. Now try you. "

And so - with each card and with several objects. First, the mother does, and then the baby repeats after her.

With older guys, a full-fledged game will already turn out.

Turn all cards upside down. The players take turns drawing a card with a color, not knowing who will get which one.

You need to find something of the same color around you and show it in the window. Those who could not find - take the card to themselves. When the cards are over - we consider who has the most pile - he lost.

This is no longer a kid's game. Children from 6 to 30+ also love it 😊 Because blue or green, for example, is easy to find. And try to find turquoise in the middle of the forest 😊

In any case, playing with colors is ideal for sitting in one place: on a blanket in the middle of a clearing.

Game of objects

There are also cards with windows for a hidden object in the box. The main “assortment” of pictures is what can be found in the forest or in the park: leaves, fruits, flowers.

By the way, the choice of pictures is such that you can play from late spring to the end of warm autumn. Actually, it is longer, but in winter you can't play especially in the finds because of the cold 🙂

Playing with objects is already more difficult, because they are not always right under your feet. Sometimes you have to walk around to find the object in the picture.

We will also play this game differently depending on the age. With a baby who is just learning to speak, we will pronounce the names after mom (just like we did with flowers), and with an older child, you can compete and play real finds.

I remember one day Shurik got a picture of a dove. Here they fly everywhere, full of pigeons in Moscow. But it had to happen that during our game not a single pigeon was around. But Shurik is stubborn, and did not want to lose in any way 😂 We went around the whole park first, and then half of the district in search of a bird. Well, they found it two hours later, when I (not him!) Was already ready to admit that I was a loser ... 🤣

Searching for similar items is generally very useful for the brain - we have talked about this many times. During this activity, we use (at least) mental operations of analysis, synthesis, comparison; and in the case of comparing pictures with real objects - also abstraction.

For children from 5+ years old, such tasks are the very thing, since it is at this age that the brain centers responsible for these mental operations begin to form actively.

But I would like to say one more thing about the cards with items from “Bingo for Kids”. Please note that the items in the pictures are signed.

While playing this game, we simultaneously teach children to read words. In the same way as with the KUMON tasks: the child sees the picture, sees the inscription, and remembers the “appearance” of the word: such a set of lines and squiggles must be “read” in this way.

Only in “Bingo for Babies” is this memorization effect even stronger, because the kid looks at the word much longer than in KUMON - while looking for objects in the window. And the object assigned to the word is presented to him twice - in the picture and in person.

Bingo game - find

And the third type of game is the very bingo, because of which the game is so named.

These are cards on which many different objects are drawn, but on one topic: forest, sea, or something else. And these cards come with stickers (I'll tell you about them separately below).

The point is what: children sort out themselves on a card, and must find live all the objects that are drawn on it. Whoever found everything first won.

There is much more choice of cards: there are not only for the forest and the yard, but there are also cards, pictures in which are specially selected for the village, for the trip (that is, you can play right during the trip on the road) and for the sea. And this is very cool, because it is already suitable not only for a picnic, but also for other activities, during which you really need to entertain the baby.

These cards still have stickers. In theory, it should be like this: you find an object - you stick a sticker on it directly on the card.

But it’s better not to do that. It turned out that the stickers are disposable. It turns out that if you glue the sticker, you will spoil both the sticker and the card at the same time. You can just take a pencil and put a dot, if the object is found - then you can erase the dots.

By the way, it is the unsuccessful stickers that are the reason why I did not talk about this game for so long. And only after a year of playing it, I decided that the advantages many times outweigh this disadvantage. But I still hope that in the reprint MYTH will release “Bingo for Babies” with reusable stickers.

Bingo cards are also for ages 4-5 and older. And it is just as great for teaching "reading", more precisely - memorizing the appearance of words.

Well, it turns out fun, of course. I am happy to play these cards with children when we are going somewhere.

About envelope

There is also an envelope in the box. In case you still find it difficult or inconvenient to carry a tiny box with you - for example, for a walk in the yard - you can take just a few cards with you in this envelope.

I really liked doing this when Masya was very little, and we studied words and objects in the playground.

Now, of course, such an envelope is no longer enough for a full-fledged game 😊

And it is also convenient to use the envelope to put away “already found” cards in it if you play bingo in long journey and use several cards at once.

Well, that's probably all for me.

Happy and healthy summer picnics for you!

Explanatory note

Table game Bingo is one of the most popular games in the UK, and is also used to teach English to preschool and primary school children. The spirit of competition, the desire to win, violent emotions make this game exciting and useful for kids and adults. This game is played using thematic cards, which depict subjects related to the topics studied.

goal use of "Bingo" cards - reinforcement of vocabulary on the topics studied with the help of the game.

Tasks:

Educational:

    to acquaint children of primary school age with the culture and traditions of the countries of the target language;

    expand words knowledge.

Developing:

    develop a cognitive interest in learning a foreign language;

develop phonemic hearing, attention, memory, the ability to imitate, to guess.

Educational:

    to develop interest and respect for the traditions and customs of people who speak English;

develop motivation to further study a foreign language.

What are English Bingo cards for?

Firstly, they develop memory well, since illustration forms a strong connection between the word and the visual image.

Secondly, they work out the correct pronunciation. Thirdly, when working with cards, attention is trained. And the result of all this can be called a significant replenishment of the active and passive vocabulary.

The relevance of using thematic cards is that they contribute to an increase in interest in the study of the subject, deepen and expand the knowledge gained, and enable students to show their language and cognitive abilities. In addition, it contributes to the development of active and passive speech in children, as well as correct sound pronunciation.

The novelty of this development is that thematic cards are used in accordance with the goals and objectives of the additional general educational program "Play and Learn English". They are adapted to the studied topics and are their logical continuation. The cards can be used for group, individual or differentiated work with students.

This methodological folder contains thematic cards independently developed by the teacher on various topics:

    ABC Bingo (Alphabet)

    Animal Bingo

    Bingo Food

    Bingo Sports (Sports)

    Easter Bingo

    Bingo Numbers

    My Day

    BingoSchool (School)

    BingoClothes (Clothing)

Rules of the game:

It is advisable to play the game "Bingo" at the stage of consolidating the lexical material on the topic. To play the game, you must have cards and chips for each player or for a group of players, as well as a set of cards with words for the leader. You can use different versions of the game "Bingo".

Option 1

Each child is given a thematic card with object pictures or words. The number of pictures on each card is less than that of the presenter and can vary from 9 to 24 depending on the topic and level of difficulty of the card. The teacher explains to the children the rules of the game: the leader has a set of cards with words for each subject picture. The leader at a slow pace takes turns calling the words in English, the participants in the game listen carefully to the leader and look for the named word on their card. If a picture representing a word is on the player's card, he covers it with a token. The first person to cover all the pictures on their card says the word "Bingo" loudly. He becomes the winner.

Option 2

Each participant chooses a thematic card on which next to each picture there is a number from 1 to 50. The facilitator explains the rules of the game to the children: he names the numbers in English, the participants find this number on their playing field, raise their hand and name a word or phrase. If the participant quickly and correctly named the word in the picture next to the number, he receives a token. At the end of the game, all participants count tokens. The winner is the one with the most tokens.

Option 3

This version of the game requires disposable cards (printed on a black and white printer) and colored pencils for each participant. The leader distributes cards and explains the rules of the game to the children. He names the word, the participants find and color the picture corresponding to the given word. When all the pictures in a row from left to right or from top to bottom are colored, the participant says the word “Bingo” and becomes the winner.

Thus, with the help of these cards, you can achieve all the tasks set, create a relaxed atmosphere in the lesson and please the children with an exciting game.

Board game "Bingo" - is entertainment for children, which addicts, attracts them. Firstly, one cannot remain indifferent to the very type of lottery. Bingo is not a collection of colorful cards or cubes. Its main component is a bright drum, before which no kid can resist.

This lottery is somewhat reminiscent of the Russian "Lotto", but the first one is made more for children who love excitement and fun spending their leisure time. But despite the fact that there is a whole drum in the kit, the “table toy” seems compact and will serve the participants well if they decide to take it with them on a trip. Children constantly need to do something, and the lottery will captivate them, become the main object of their attention. Parents who love to spend time with their younger generation will also become addicted to the lottery. Packaging

Description of the game

Board game "Bingo" very similar to Lotto. Only a new version looks more updated and interesting. Now family members can get together, as before, and play Bingo, which consists of lottery and lotto.

The essence of the lesson - you need to fill out the cards that are given to the participants with the numbers that drop out on the playing field in the form of a drum. The winner will be the one who achieves the goal the fastest.

It is better to start playing the lottery for children who have already turned 4 or 5 years old, since at this age children are already more conscious of such entertainments and enjoy, because they understand the importance of their occupation. The lesson will be interesting for both boys and girls. 2 or more players can compete. The lottery is a family business because it unites and gives good way spend time together. If you want to make a present for your child, then “table entertainment” will be a good option here too.

Rules and course of the game

To learn how to play Bingo, you do not need to study the rules for a long time, since this victory in this lesson depends more on the luck and luck of the players than on their way of thinking and diligence.

How to play Bingo:

Before starting the "competition", players need to choose a leader. But unlike many other games, in this case the presenter can participate himself. Then all players need to choose their cards. This is done at random. All participants are given the same number of playing cards.

There are two ways you can choose to organize your game:

  1. "Simple Lotto" - the winner is the one who fills in all the numbers on his cards.
  2. "Short lotto" - the winner is the one who fills in all the numbers on one line.

The "competition" begins with the fact that the person who has been chosen as the host spins the drum (lottery drum). This action continues until one of the balls is on the playing field. Then the host announces the ball number for everyone. If one of the players discovers that this number matches the number on his card, then he fills in the field provided for this with a chip. Depending on which version of the game the participants have chosen, the winner will be determined.

The lottery is a family business because it brings together and provides a good way to spend time together.

Who will like it?

Bingo can be enjoyed by both children and adults. Most often, buyers purchase it in order to play with the whole family. She develops perseverance and logic in the guys. "Bingo" is also often used as a birthday present or any other occasion.

Parents, in whose house large children's companies often gather, find in "Bingo" a real salvation, which captivates children for a long time and allows adults to go about their business.

Reviews and questions for the game

Buyers mostly leave positivereviews on the game, but there are also various misunderstandings and even disappointments.

Positive points:

  • Buyers often write that "Bingo" reminds them of "good old" loto and awakens the desire to teach their own in what they once played themselves.
  • Bright and eye-catching game.
  • Compact, you can take with you on the road.
  • Develops perseverance, logic and attention.
  • Perfectly acts as entertainment for any company.

I like "Bingo" a lot, but this game has its drawbacks.

Negative points:

    • Some buyers say Bingo is too expensive.
    • Many people complain that children often lose parts.
    • Parents sometimes say that play is only suitable for fun and not for the general development of children.

Sometimes buyers can't tell the difference betweenbingo, bingo, bingo deluxe.

There are practically no questions about the rules of the game, as in "Bingo" it is easy to understand without outside help.

"Bingo Delux" is no different from the regular version

Supplements

It's worth noting that buyers don't need to be intimidated when instead of"Bingo" they see the name of the board game"Bingo Lottery" since they are one and the same.

But the “tabletop entertainment” Bingo Seasons (djeco) is different from the standard version. She gives a great opportunity to teach a child through play all four seasons of the year.

Board game "Bingo Delux", Spin Master (Spin master) is no different from the regular version.

Bustard and Media are alternatives to Bingo if players get bored with the familiar game.

One of the versions of the game

Today there are many methods in which teaching a child the English language necessarily takes into account all psychological characteristics and contributes to his development. Bright colored cubes that stimulate fine motor skills and large posters that use the visual channel of information perception are also successfully used.

But, probably, one of the most popular tools for both teachers and parents is cards for learning English. After all, they are so easy and simple to use for many entertaining games in English.

The disadvantages of cardboard cards, perhaps, can only be attributed to the fact that they require a very careful attitude towards themselves.

But the cards have a lot of advantages:

1. Visibility.

If the cards are of high quality, then the colors on them are bright and rich, and the image is large and clear. They invariably attract the attention of the child, and he just wants to take them in his hands as soon as possible and properly examine.

And if the cards are black and white and printed on an ordinary printer, then they give even more scope for the kid's imagination when he picks up a pencil or brush and begins to paint pictures. And who said that the pig must be pink, and the bunny must be gray? Let it be fabulous multi-colored animals, as in the picture below.

2. Convenience to use.

Unlike a book with pictures or the same cubes, you can always put cards with you in your pocket and go on the road, they can be laid out, turned over, and swapped in different ways. Accordingly, they are very convenient to use in games for learning English words, even in the car or on the bus.

3. Benefits for the development of the child.

Cutting out cards, coloring them, sticking them on cardboard - all these actions are not only interesting for the child, but also useful, because in this way the fine motor skills of the hands are trained, which is so important for writing and even for speaking.

During games with cards, memory, imaginative thinking, and the logic of the baby are developed. In addition, when talking about the habits of this or that animal depicted on the card, the child himself can jump, run, stomp and clap his hands, thereby doing a little exercise, which is simply necessary for the full development of children of any age.

Below are seven popular english games with cards, the rules of which can be changed according to the age of the child and the level of language proficiency, while receiving new interesting games.

Bingo game (Bingo)

Bingo is probably the most famous card game in teaching English to kids. The spirit of competition, desire to win, stormy emotions and joyful shouts of Bingo make this game invariably popular among kids 3-4 years old and children 7-8 years old.

Bingo Rules

Each of the players are given large cards with marked rectangles (about 8-9). Each of these rectangles contains an image corresponding to the theme, which you want to repeat with the children. These can be animals, body parts, garments, buildings, etc. Images can be the same for all children, but the order of their arrangement on the sheet must be different for everyone.

Further in the course of the game, the presenter slowly names each of the objects (animals) in English, also raising the card up. Children should cross out the image on their sheet corresponding to the word and picture they heard. When the child sees that all his images are crossed out, he should shout out the word Bingo. Since the images are the same for all children, the winner is the one who does it first, provided that all his images are crossed out correctly.

Alternatively, each child can be given a set of cards, which must be laid out in the course of the game into pictures that correspond to the spoken leading words. Bingo can be successfully used in the lesson in English at school, and as one of the fun at children's party, and even just to liven up a boring winter evening at home.

The rules of the game are quite simple and straightforward. At the same time, it will be a great way to repeat English words and develop a child's auditory and visual memory, as well as his attention.

If the children are already familiar with how to read the words corresponding to the pictures, you can distribute sheets of paper in which instead of pictures, English words will be written. In the course of the game, offer to cross them out when the presenter says the word aloud and shows the picture.

What’s Missing game? (What is missing?)

Another great game that not only teaches English, but also helps to develop a child's memory is What’s Missing? You can play it from the age of three.

You should not allocate more than 15 minutes for one game with cards: this time is quite enough to both support the motivation for learning English and repeat all the necessary words.

For her, you need cards with thematic images, which can be found in the corresponding sections of the Englishlittle website. The younger the children, the fewer cards should be in a row. For example, for 3-4 years, six cards will be enough, and for older children, their number can be increased to 9-10.

In the course of the game, the cards are laid out in a row (in two rows) with the image up. Children carefully examine the pictures, trying to remember them and the order of the arrangement itself. Then the children close their eyes, while the presenter removes one of the cards. After everyone has opened their eyes, you need to figure out which picture is missing, and call this word in English. The one who did it right becomes the leader.
You can see an example of such a game with fruit cards in the video below.

What’s missing? helps to remember English words

Odd One Out

This English educational game is similar to the previous one, but is suitable for repetition of vocabulary in the case when children have already gained sufficient vocabulary on several topics.

Cards with images that correspond to one theme are laid out in a row. For example, this is a Farm Animals theme, and the row will contain pictures of the following animals: horse, pig, hen, sheep, goose, and rabbit. Then the children close their eyes and an image of, say, an apple is added to the named pictures.

Children need to understand which card is superfluous, and name this word in English. At the same time, both visual memory and abstract-logical thinking develop well.

Kim's game

This game, in addition to its educational task, also develops memory, as well as the ability to notice details.

It is interesting

It got its name thanks to the novel by R. Kipling "Kim", in which main character learns to be a spy and trains his memory in the game, remembering objects that were on a tray covered with a handkerchief.

The game itself is for the child to carefully consider and remember the cards or objects lying on the table in front of him. Then the cards are either turned over or covered with a handkerchief, and the child's task is to say all the words out loud in English, preferably in the correct sequence.

The one who can name the most words will be the winner.

The Bad Card

In this game, one of the cards is conditionally "bad". For example, in the Zoo Animals theme, it might be a crocodile picture. The leader picks up each card in turn and calls out the name of the animal, and the children repeat it. When they see a “bad” card, children need to jump up and say the word out loud.

Anyone who is distracted and does not get up from his seat is assigned a humorous punishment: perform some action, for example, stomp your feet, clap your hands.

The game is well suited for acquaintance with English words and for their consolidation, and also develops attention.

True / False

The game itself consists in the fact that, picking up any of the cards, the presenter deliberately makes a mistake in the statement about it. For example, holding up a tiger card, you can say It's a crocodile. Is it true? The answer, of course, must be No, it's false.

These alternating true and false statements invariably make children laugh and help create the necessary positive atmosphere in the English lesson.

At the same time, the game helps to develop the child's attention and abstract-logical thinking, because in order to say True or False (True or false), you need to remember the English name of the animal and relate it to the statement.

Matching

The main thing in the game is to connect two cards together or a word and a picture. However, the rules of this game can vary from case to case. For example, once you can invite the children to put cards with pictures of food on the corresponding pictures of a plate and a jug, which you can cut out of paper yourself.

Another time, you can give the children cards of animals and their babies and invite them to find the appropriate pair.

This game is both educational and educational. On the one hand, with its help you can perfectly remember English words, on the other hand, it develops the baby's logic well.

The video below shows how to use these or those cards in an English lesson.
