Pairing
Firstly, all your previously collected eggs are only suitable for consumption. They are not fertilized. To get Fertilized Eggs in Update 219, you need to get two tamed dinos of the same species together. In the patch, not all types of creatures can have offspring yet, but most already can. You will know that your dinos can have children by their indicator: “Enable Wandering to Mate”. So get an attractive female and male (tamed) together, let them roam freely ("Enable Wandering") and, just in case, lock them in a pen to keep them around for a while. If you did everything correctly, beating hearts will appear above their heads and information about the mating process will be displayed on the female’s indicator. Both dinos will also have an indication of who they mate with.
When the mating process is completed, the female will lay a fertilized egg. After which she will not be able to mate for some time, this information will be displayed on her indicator. Males will be able to mate as often as needed.
Incubation
A Fertilized Egg will not hatch when in your inventory; place it on the ground or floor. A released fertilized egg will not spoil, but incubation will require maintaining certain temperatures specific to each species. Being outside the permissible temperature range, the egg will eventually lose its “Fertilied Egg Health” and at zero it will be destroyed. All this will be displayed when you look at the fertilized egg, and you can also find out the names of the parents in the egg description.
Offspring
If incubation is successful, a baby dinosaur will hatch out of the egg. Children initially have extremely low levels of health, carrying capacity and stomach capacity, so in the first days of their life they must be carefully fed and cared for, otherwise they will soon die. Over time, as they mature, they will be able to tolerate more, gaining more HP and a larger stomach capacity. Babies do not initially belong to anyone, so you need to "Imprint" them to confirm your ownership of the babies after birth.
Currently, baby dinosaurs will not be able to attack or be ridden until they are fully grown. Therefore, they will avoid any fight.
Selection
The cubs' base stats will be a random combination of their parents' base stats (at the time of taming), as will their color. And here's the most interesting thing:
Since the cub randomly inherits any characteristics of its parents, it may have more “absolute” characteristics than its parents. For example, you have a father trike with a “natural maximum” HP (all the experience gained during the taming process went into HP) and a mother trike with a “natural maximum” endurance, by mating with each other they MAY have a cub with BOTH the maximum characteristics by nature, HP and stamina. Then, when the baby grows up, you can mate it with another grown dino, which has other maximum characteristics from nature, such as attack and carried weight. Thus, you will get an even more powerful third generation trike. And so on. With this kind of selective breeding (and there is a 70% chance of getting the best characteristics in the cubs), you can weed out the unnecessary characteristics, leaving the necessary ones, and after enough attempts, breed an Uber Dino with all the maximum characteristics... and the world will tremble.
However, you can't see the baby's characteristics before it hatches, so it will take some effort ;)
Plus, dinosaurs don't have to be in the same tribe to mate. They just need to be non-aggressive, tame and close to each other. So a tribe could, say, rent out its winning dino, and then both tribes would split the resulting eggs.
Oh yes, the younger the cub, the fewer resources you can get from butchering it, but there is a high probability of getting Prime Meat. With newborns you are almost guaranteed to get a couple of pieces of prime meat >:D
Stages of growth
The age of the babies is not expressed in days, as the length of the day in ARK may vary. The process of growing up is displayed on their indicators, they grow in real time, and there are 3 stages of growth: infancy< 20%, юность < 50% и подростковый возраст < 100%.

This guide will primarily help beginners like me in breeding pets. Perhaps the ARC gurus know even more, but still. In the process, we will look at what characteristics are increased in tamed dinos, how the effectiveness of taming affects this, how the characteristics of a cub and its level are calculated, whether it is possible to create an uber monster, and how random mutations affect all this.

Parents' choice
And so, we are going to breed top dinosaurs. What do we need for this? At a minimum, tame two dinosaurs of different genders with as high a level as possible. You should not look only for level 150 (off-server); for our purposes, dinos from 140 and above will do. Why is that? Because the characteristic we need as a result of taming may turn out to be higher than the same characteristic at level 150.
There is an opinion that several wild dinos of the same level have the same characteristics - this is completely wrong. Let's figure it out. We will grow pteranodons. There are basic things that can be viewed on the official wiki for level 1:
The increase for each subsequent level increases only one parameter and stun. If we meet a wild pter of the 2nd level, we will know for sure that its stun is 120 + 7.2 and one other parameter other than speed is too high (of course, this point may accidentally fall into speed, but it will not have any effect) ... because wild dinos do not increase speed. It follows that a stunned dino of level 150 has 149 points to be distributed among any of its characteristics in a random order. According to the theory of probability, of course it can happen that all the points fall into one desired characteristic, but this probability is monstrously insignificant.Nevertheless, a level 140 dino, by chance, can receive much more points per characteristic than a level 150 dino.
It is worth mentioning that leveling up the parents will not in any way affect the characteristics of the child that could result from crossing them. Only the basic characteristics obtained by taming the parent are passed on to the offspring. It is necessary to strive for maximum taming efficiency, since the future characteristics of the stunned dinosaur depend on it.
And so, knowing how much per level is added to each of the characteristics and knowing the initial values of these characteristics, having stunned the pter we can already calculate how many points went into each characteristic:
We calculate health: From the received 1386 we subtract the base value of the first level 210 and divide by the number of points for each level 42. Answer: 28 levels went into health. Thus, we calculate each characteristic and see the result:
To make calculations easier, you can use a spreadsheet. We see that there are no outstanding characteristics here. As a result of taming, the picture may change dramatically, but it is worth considering one fact: if before taming a dino has one of its characteristics that is significantly overestimated, then with a high degree of probability it will further enhance this characteristic.

We also calculate levels, but here different coefficients for taming, TA, TM and a few other little things are added to the calculations. We will take into account only the largest one - TM, we will not consider the rest, the simpler the better, although we will have a small error in the calculations. The main thing for us is to determine the greatest characteristics and decide whether this animal is worth mating. Similar formulas work for me

Mutation - randomly changes color and adds 2 levels per random child characteristic. It is better that mutations do not occur at the initial stages of breeding because at the beginning of the journey the probability of meeting a dino better than a dino with a mutation is quite high. After all, the number of mutations is limited and it is better to save them for later and improve already quite significant characteristics, but depending on your luck. All mutations are inherited from parents and accumulate. You can get a maximum of 20 mutations from the mother and 20 from the father, i.e. 40 times some parameter will be improved by 2 points. This will give another 80 levels beyond the existing ones.
We see that the endurance parameter was overestimated by two points - this is a mutation.
What is a top dinosaur? This is a child who has absorbed the best characteristics from many parents, has the maximum possible number of mutations in the desired characteristics, was raised with 100% affection and has been pumped up by the player to all possible 71 levels.
When you have such a pair of pets, you can sell their eggs on the server at an obscenely expensive price.
During the writing of this article, about 120 pteranodons were injured. For me, a cub from the third generation with level 271 would do just fine, but if you pump it up to the maximum +71 level and make an attachment, you’ll get a good 342 level fly with a 30% increase in damage and defense.
Unfortunately, the official wiki is very rarely updated and it is not always possible to find up-to-date information on its pages. There is a program for creating mods for ARK, called DEVKIT and it is built into the UNREAL ENGINE engine - it always contains up-to-date information for all dinos. It weighs about 120 GB. You can find the information you need like this: Menu bar: Blueprints – Open Level Blueprints. Then File – and insert DinoCharacterStatusComponent into the search assets field. As in any other game, the higher the LVL of a creature, the stronger, more dangerous and thicker it is. It becomes more difficult to destroy. And a strong player himself will kill everything that moves. What is the level of the dinosaur and the player in ARK and how to level up faster? The answer is below.
Dinosaur Levels
Living organisms in the game gain experience and value in the graph somewhat differently than the character. Creatures have three types of levels in ARK Survival Evolved: wild, domestic and captive born.
The first is an indicator with which a wild creature lives constantly. A dinosaur or other living creature is born with a certain number in the column. And they don’t change it until the player bothers to tame it. A wild animal cannot have more than 150 LVL.
During the taming process, at maximum efficiency, the creature can add another 75 levels. Therefore, ideally it will be tamed with a value of 225 levels.
After taming, you can further upgrade your pet by adding another 71 levels to the number received during acquisition. To do this, you need to apply the effectiveness of taming and gain the maximum 2,525,000 experience points. In this case, in an ideal situation, a domestic non-bred dinosaur (mammal, bird, etc.) will be able to have a maximum level of 296.
But the LVL of a creature born in captivity can be twice the maximum domestic level. It may happen that the newborn will receive 450 LVL - the largest that is allowed on the official servers.
How to Spawn a High Level Dinosaur in ARK Survival Evolved
If you don’t want to look for a high-level creature to tame, you can simply summon it using console commands. Cheat codes work either on local servers (in single player), or when using them on your own online server.
Before using cheats, you will have to enter the EnableCheats command into the console. After which you can safely call a dinosaur with a specific level. To do this you need to enter the following:

Where the number 200 is the desired level, instead of which you can substitute any value. After spawning, a creature with the required LVL will appear, which remains to be tamed or killed.
The character is also limited to the maximum level in ARK Survival Evolved, like a dinosaur. The final figure is 100 levels (before Ascension) and 115 after (5 pieces are added after each tier of the tech cave).
For achievement maximum level 100 you need to earn 1,798,538 experience points. In this case, the character will receive 3144 engram points over the entire game (which is less than the number of engrams in the ARK Survival Evolved game).
If we take into account the levels added by the caves, then you need to earn 6,473,538 experience points to rise to the 115 mark. In this case, the engram points will be 4194 (which, however, is still less than the number of available engrams).
How to increase levels faster
Leveling up is useful, but very tedious. Therefore, I want to raise the levels quickly. What do you need to do for this in ARK Survival Evolved? Dinos and humans have different requirements.
How to level up a player
Some useful tips how to become experienced player quickly:
- To quickly earn new LVL at the initial stage, it is enough to actively mine resources and craft things (in particular, a fabric hat).
- The next step is taming the creature. With it it will be easier to hunt other lizards (stegosaurs are a priority) and obtain resources.
- After 14-16 LVL you can go hunting and kill dinosaurs. This gives you a lot of experience.
- As you progress in training, tame more and more powerful lizards (Raptor -> Spinosaurus -> Tyrannosaurus and so on).
The more you kill animals, craft things and collect resources, the faster your experience grows.
How to level up your dinosaur
There are not as many actions available with dinosaurs as with the player. Therefore, it is important to immediately take care of maximizing the level of your future pet even at the taming stage. Try your best to get the maximum LVL.
If the lizard has already been tamed, its level is raised most quickly by hunting serious opponents. So grab your pet and go destroy the local fauna. The more you kill, the more resources you have, and the pet has more experience.
