Who starts the domino game. How to play dominoes: rules, tips and secrets

Domino rules "goat"

If we talk about board games that have received universal approval and recognition, then dominoes are among the first. Of course, dominoes have become widespread in the territory of the former USSR, as a game for everyone. Despite its origins and simple rules, Dominoes are one of the most beloved and easy-to-learn classic board games.

Oddly enough, the most widespread type of domino game in Russia is not the classic domino, but the goat domino.

The rules of the goat domino game are somewhat different from the usual one. They will be discussed further.

As in the main dominoes, the "goat" of 28 tiles with numbers from 0 to 6 has 7 doubles, there is a bazaar from which players collect tiles if there is no suitable one on their hands. If you are familiar with the principle of playing dominoes, you will quickly understand everything.

The player goes to the domino "goat" first, not with a big double, as in usual dominoes, but with a double 1: 1. Only then doubles from 2: 2 to 6: 6 are played. If there are no such doubles, a 0: 0 double goes. If the players have no doubles in their hands, then the move begins with the highest tile, for example, 5: 6, etc.

At the beginning of the round, even if the number of players is 4, all players take not 5, but 7 dice “face-down” from the “bazaar”. The bazaar is all the tiles not taken, which lie with their values down (they are not visible). The rules for taking bones from the bazaar are the same as in the classic dominoes.

The game of dominoes "goat" can end if one of the people left, that is, played all the knuckles from his hand, or someone made a fish - a situation in which further play is impossible. Fish is a situation when each end of the domino line ends with the same number, for example, 1. At the same time, there are no bones with ones left on the hands.

If there is a fish, then the rules of the goat domino game prescribe to calculate the points separately for each player in the same way as in the classic domino.

Scoring in domino goat is very interesting. Instead of just adding all the values, proceed as follows. If the player has less than 12 points, for example, 9, then they are recorded with a + sign. The + sign means that if the player wins in the next round, that is, "exits", these points will disappear.

The winner in the domino "goat" is the player with the lowest number of points following the results of 5.10 or 15 games.

Now that you know the rules of the goat domino game.

Domino history dates back to ancient times. For the first time, the game of dice with dots on them originated in China and India. After that, in the 18th century, it was brought to Europe, namely to Italy. After that, there were many variations of this game. I'll introduce you to the rules of the most famous and popular options now!

General Domino Rules

Play from two to four people. For two, seven dominoes are handed over, for three or four - five. The rest are placed in a closed reserve ("bazaar"). The player starts with a double six or a zero double (0-0), depending on the rules of the game. The next players place stones with the corresponding points (6-1; 6-2; 6-3 ... or 0-1; 0-2; 0-3 ...). If there are no suitable stones, then you have to get them from the reserve.

If none of the players have a 6-6 double in their hands, you can start the game with a 5-5 double. If there is not a single double on hand, they start with the stone with the largest number (for example, 6-5).

The game ends when one of the players places the last stone. Perhaps the end of the game with a "fish" - this is the name of blocking the calculation, when there are still stones on the hands, but there is nothing to report. If you get a dice with two zeros, you are awarded 25 points. The player who played last ends the game.

The winner receives the sum of the points of all stones in the hands of the losers as a prize. When blocking ("fish"), the winner belongs to the one with the fewest points on his hands. The difference of points is written to him as a prize. The game continues until a predetermined amount - say, up to one hundred or one hundred and fifty points.

Domino rules "Goat"

"Goat" is one of the most popular types of domino games.

The game involves two to four players. Each player receives 7 tiles. The player starts the game with a 1-1 double in a four-player game, or the smallest double in other cases. The last stone from the reserve is not taken. The next rally is started by the player who won the previous round or declared a fish. The losers in each drawing write down the sum of points on the remaining tiles to their account. To start recording, you need to score at least 13 points.

The player who first scored 101 points is declared a "goat" - the loser. Sometimes 4 players play in pairs. In this case, the players sitting diagonally opposite each other play in the same team.

"Sea goat"

This is a variation of the game "Goat", which is considered to be more dynamic. Also, as in the usual "Goat", 2-4 people participate in the game. In the case of four people, they play in pairs.

The game differs from the goat as follows:

 • The player who wins the draw writes down the total of the losers' points.
 • The minimum number of points you can start recording is 25.
 • Only one player can score points. Thus, if another player scored more than 25 points, all points are "written off" - all players have 0 points.
 • The player with 125 points is declared the winner
 • If a player has the opportunity to place a double on each side, then he can place two takes at the same time.
 • The player who started the "recording" has the right to start the rally from 6-6. Such a move is called "one hundred". If the player who entered 100 finishes first, he automatically wins the game, but if he loses and has 25 points or more, the player is considered a loser ("brother-in-law").
 • The one who finishes the rally at 0-0 automatically wins the game, such a “goat” is called “bald”.
 • The player who finished the rally at 6-6 is considered the winner if the losing player has 25 points or more, if less than 25 points, then the player who finished the rally starts at 6-6 (move “for one hundred”).
 • If at the end of the rally the player has only a 0-0 double, it is counted as 25 points; only 6-6 counts as 50 points; Only 0-0 and 6-6 - 75 points.
 • If the game is over and both players have knuckles, this is called a fish.
 • The player who placed the dice last and made the "fish" is called the "fisherman" (the double is not considered the last dice).
 • If the “fisherman” has less than 25 points, and the other has more, then the “fisherman” is considered the winner, and he makes a “one hundred” move.
 • If the “fisherman” has more points than the other player and more than 25, then the “fisherman” has the right to write off the “fish”, while he is the first to enter the game with any, most beneficial for him, knuckles.
 • If the "fisherman" wins, and the opponent has 25 points or more, such a "fish" is considered written off.
 • If the “fisherman” fails to write off the “fish” from three attempts, he is considered a loser and his opponent makes a move “for a hundred”.
 • The situation when both players have an equal number of points with a “fish” is called “eggs”.
 • The eggs are played starting at 1-1.
 • If the eggs have not been played on three tries, they are considered rotten.

Sports domino

Competitions are held on sports dominoes. Including world championships.

The game is played by 4 players in pairs.

The main differences are:

 • Visits in turn.
 • The knuckles are placed on stands.
 • A certain number of hands (mixes) is played in multiples of four (4,8,12, etc.).
 • The pair with the most points on the opponent wins.

A donkey

A dynamic game for 2-4 people. Outwardly, it may resemble the below-mentioned Phone, but the rules of the game are closer to the Goat.

The game differs from Goat as follows:

 • To the first exposed take, you can attach dice from four sides.
 • If a player has the opportunity to place a double on each side (2, 3 or 4 takes), then he can place them simultaneously.
 • The player placing a double has the right to “close” it (the knuckle is turned face down). In this case, further exposing of the knuckles from this side is prohibited. When placing several takes at the same time, the player has the right to close or open any number of takes.
 • If the first move was not a double and until at least one double was placed, the next player has the right to close two doubles at the same time. The drawing ends here and the usual scoring takes place.

Scoring is the same as in Goat - a game up to 101, to record you need to dial 13, everything less than 13 is “remembered” and is reset only if nothing is written or memorized on this player in the next rally.

Phone (Houses) (Flea)

A game that is very different from other varieties in the way of scoring.

The game is played by 2 players. Or 4, a team game 2 on 2. Each player receives 7 tiles. The first take, covered on both sides, is declared “home”. You can attach bones to it from 2 more sides, and as a result, the game goes on 4 sides. The party starts with the one with 3-2 .

In subsequent games, the one who finished the previous one starts the game and so on until the end of the game, moreover, you can not necessarily play a double, you can put a stone 6-4 or 3-2 and immediately write 10 or 5 points to your asset, respectively. Points are awarded as follows:

 • Every time the sum of the points at the ends of the chips placed on the board is a multiple of 5.

For instance:

 • the first overlapped take is 4-4, 6 at one end and 3 at the other end.
 • The first player places a double 6-6. He writes himself 15 points (6 + 6 + 3 = 15).
 • The second player throws 4-5 towards home. He writes himself 20 points (6 + 6 + 3 + 5 = 20)

The player who remains with the stones deducts the accumulated points. For instance:

 • there are two stones 6-4 and 5-3 in the amount of 18, which means 15 is written off (rounding goes down), if the points were not previously collected, then there is nothing to write off, there are no debts in this game. In a 2v2 team game, points are collected and debited for two.
 • Variant of the rules: it is allowed to set up to four takes simultaneously (one on each side) in 1 move.

The game goes up to 225 points and consists of several games, usually 10-15. If both players score 225 or more, a draw is considered. It is convenient to use accounting accounts in this game.

Muggins

This is the English version of dominoes. Two players each take seven stones. If three or four are playing, five stones are dealt. The person who comes in starts with any stone. The first double that appears in the layout opens the four-way chain. Further bones are attached not only to the right and left, but also from above and from below.

Points in this game are awarded when the amount on the free halves is a multiple of five. For each five, the player counts 5 points. Doubles, except for the first, the player puts up and down as it suits him. For the end of the game, he receives 10 points. When the calculation is blocked, the winner is the one with the fewest points in his hands. The player wins a number of points equal to the difference between his points and the sum of the points of the other players, rounded up to five. Usually up to 200 points are played.

General (General's goat)

The game is played by 4 people, placing teams on the diagonal (A, C and B, D). 7 tiles are dealt to everyone. Players of the same team can transfer information to each other about the presence of 0x0 and / or 6x6 knuckles on their hands (0x0 winks, 6x6 puffs out a cheek.) In any case, the game starts with 1x1. A fish is not allowed, that is, a round ending with a fish (stalemate) does not count. The game is played on two ends (in two directions without closing). The goal of the game is to end it with 0x0 and / or 6x6 takes. The game ends in any case if one of the players runs out of dice. The loser interferes with the dice as a loser. When the game ends with 0x0 and / or 6x6 knuckles, the loser is declared the "General". The loser is the one whose move is next in turn after the one who finished the game. No points are scored. Only the number of "Generals" in teams is counted. The game lasts from 30 to 60 minutes (lunch time at the enterprise). The game can also be played by more than 2 teams, that is, 4 hours 6 hours 8 hours, etc. Team A, B and B, D plays, and team D, E waiting in line. If one of the teams loses 2 times, it gives way to other players. If one of the teams at the very beginning receives the "General", then it gives way next team... In fact, the “General” is considered to be the loser to whom both 0x0 and 6x6 were “hung” at once. In another version of the game, you only need to finish the game with a 0x0 double - "naked" or "bald". The losing team is also called “naked”. At the same time, it is not allowed to show your partner the presence of 0x0 or 6x6 on your hands, and the "general" rule also works - if you have 0x0 and 6x6 on your hands together, then they tend to end up with two of these holes at once - "general".

Sausage

The game is played by 2 people. Each takes 14 closed dice and places them in a line. The beginner takes the first tile in his line and places it on the table (sometimes they start with a snipe to acquaint the player with his chips). The game is played in two parallel (from the initiating knuckle) lines. In the absence of a correct knuckle, the knuckle taken from the right is placed on the left. If there are two lines, consisting of at least one piece each, the player gets the right to cut sausage, i.e harm opponent and supplement his line with cut knuckles. Suppose there are two parallel lines of three dice each on the table and at the ends of the lines, for example, five and empty. If the player draws a dice 5-0, he puts it across the lines and cuts off everything that came before this place. The enemy shifts the cut sausage to the left of their bones. Cut off sausage it is possible along the entire length of two lines, namely at the junction of the first and second knuckles and at the end of the line (as in the example). If the player takes out a snipe, for example, 1-1, then he has the right to insert it in any place where there is a joint of dice 1-1, moving the entire line, or putting it at the end of the line. Thus, the joints are updated and it becomes possible to use other bones for "cutting" sausages... The game ends when one of the players or a fish runs out of chips. Up to how many points the game is played is negotiated at the beginning. Experience shows that it is possible to achieve 101 points in 1-2 draws (the total number of points of all tiles is 168).

I have listed the main varieties of this wonderful board game. Try to play all the variations, and then decide which one you like best!

This article is about board game DOMINO.

It is difficult to say how popular it is now, but earlier in popularity only the game of cards could compete with it. They played everywhere: at home, at work, at school, in the yards, etc. Everyone played, regardless of gender and age. If only there were bones.

Dominoes are a game in the course of which a chain of knuckles ("bones", "stones") is built in contact with halves with the same number of points.

Domino set description

Dominoes evolved from the well-known dice. A standard set of dominoes includes 28 tiles. The domino tile is a rectangular tile. Its front side is divided by a line into two square parts. Each part contains from zero to six points. In specialized sets of dominoes, the possible number of points can be up to nine, twelve, fifteen or eighteen.

The number of dominoes is equal to the number of combinations with repetitions of 2 from a set of 7 numbers (0, 1, 2, ..., 6) and is calculated by the formula: (n + 1) × (n + 2) / 2, where n is maximum number of points. For example, the already described "standard" set includes (6 + 1) × (6 + 2) / 2 = 28 seeds.

There are also other sets of dominoes. For example, a Chinese domino has 32 tiles, and there are no pieces without dots in the set, but there are several pairs of duplicate tiles.

The back of the knuckle is usually straight. Dominoes are made from bone (plain or ivory), plastic, metal or wood. Sometimes a deck of cards is used as a domino. Besides the traditional dominoes, there are many other varieties of this game.

Domino history

The roots of the game of dominoes go back to India and China, it was there that dice in the form of plates appeared. The dots on the bones in Chinese dominoes are multi-colored (white and red), there are no dummies in the set. In the 18th century, the game was brought to Italy and modified. Modern dominoes are also closely related to dice. Two halves of the dominoes are one of the possible combinations that appear when throwing two dice. It is believed that the domino was named after the black and white fancy dress, which, in turn, evolved from the attire of the Dominican monks, who wore white cloaks with black hoods.

Rules of the game

Play from two to four people. For two, seven dominoes are handed over, for three or four - five. The rest are placed in a closed reserve ("bazaar"). If there are no suitable stones, then you have to get them from the reserve.

If none of the players have a 6-6 double in their hands, you can start the game with a 5-5 double. If there is not a single double on hand, they start with the stone with the largest number (for example, 6-5).

Varieties of the game

More than 40 are known in the East different games using dominoes. There are dominoes with colored dice, where the color denotes dignity. The titles of the games are extremely poetic: “carnations in the fog”, “enter the pagoda”, “gazelle jump”. See Chinese Dominoes for details.

In Russia, several varieties of the game have become widespread, differing from each other in the methods of scoring points, victory conditions, etc.

The most popular type of game.

The first player to score 101 points is declared a "goat" - a loser. Sometimes 4 players play in pairs. In this case, the players sitting diagonally opposite each other play in the same team.

Music:from the movie "Treasure Island"

Surely, many people are familiar with the game - dominoes from childhood. Most likely, more than once they saw how grandmothers and grandfathers at the tables at the entrances "cut" all day into this game. Why is she so interesting? Where did it come from? How many domino chips are there? Let's try today to answer all these questions.

Domino history

Dominoes are considered to be a type of dice game. It is believed that the ancestor of all dice is India. In those days, the knuckles for the game were carved from precious woods. Only the richest stratum of society, the nobility, could afford to play such a game.

After a while, dominoes and dice became a game for the public. Nobody knows how many domino chips were in those days. Different sources describe the rules of the game and the composition of the dominoes in different ways. In China, for example, there were over fifty different bones, including multi-colored variants. The bones were not just a collection of points, as they are today. Chinese craftsmen made bones of incredible beauty with images of animals, hieroglyphs, etc. By the way, it is from the Chinese dominoes that the popular today game "Mahjong" originated.

In the 18th century, the bones "moved" to Italy, where their appearance and quantity underwent some changes. The chips become a little shorter, their number also decreases. Italians strip the bones of duplicates, drawings and leave seven tokens and additional bones "empty".

Domino set

So, let's figure out how modern domino dice look now, how many domino chips should be. Domino dice are slightly elongated plates on which dots are applied. Each plate has its own number of these points. In total, the standard set contains 28 records. As a rule, modern dominoes are made of plastic. More expensive options are made of wood, precious metals or animal bones.

If we talk about the Chinese domino, which is the ancestor of the western version of the game, then it is slightly different from what we are used to. How many domino chips are there in China? The Chinese play dominoes, which consist of 32 tiles. Moreover, they do not have empty chips. Several additional duplicates are used instead.

Rules of the game

The rules of the game are pretty simple. Participation is taken from two to four people. A different number of dice are taken depending on the number of players. How many domino chips are taken if there are two players? - seven. How many chips if four or three people are playing? - five. The remaining bones remain "in the bazaar", from where the players, if necessary, can take them one at a time.

So, each of the players has collected the required number of dice. The first to go is the one with the big double. A double is a domino with the same number of points 6-6, 5-5, etc. If no one has doubles at all, then the player who has the bone with the most a large number points.

Then the players lay out the chips in turn, making a chain. Each next bone must have an edge with the same number of points as the previous one. If at the ends of the snake there are no bones with the same number of points that you have, you should go to the "bazaar".

Many beginners think that you need to put up as many dominoes in total as dominoes. No. The point of playing and winning is to finish placing your chips faster. As soon as one player has exposed the last dice, the game ends.

Scoring

After the winner has placed his last piece, the players begin to tally the points. As a rule, before the start of the game, everyone agrees to what specific number in the overall score the game will last. Usually the game lasts up to one hundred or two hundred points, but other options are also possible. The duration of the game changes depending on the agreed number.

There are times when all players do not have chips to cover the ones on the table. This ending is called a fish. Here the winner will be the player who placed the chips last or the one with the fewest points left.

Varieties of the game

So, we already know where this game came from, how to play it, how many dominoes are in and how they look. But there are several varieties of dominoes, the rules in which change.

The most popular in Russia are the options: "Goat", "Donkey", "Sea goat", "Telephone". These options differ from each other in the number of players allowed to the field, in different ways of scoring. For example, in "Goat" every man for himself, and "Sea Goat" provides for the game in pairs.

In England, a more popular game of dominoes called "Muggins". Here the game starts not with the usual "double", but with any dice. The score is strictly up to two hundred points.

Here is an exciting board puzzle in which you have to build a chain of dice. But not everyone knows the rules of the domino game, and therefore it seems uninteresting to them. The number of participants varies from two to four. For two people, seven bones are distributed, for more people, five. Others are placed in the "reserve" so that the points are not visible. The first move is made by the player who has a “double” in his hands (that is, 1-1 or any other ascending combination). You can't start from 0-0. The essence of the game is to place your stones on the field so that they touch with the same symbols to each other. That is, you can add 2-5, 4-2 and others to 2-2, but there must be a number 2. If there are none, you choose new ones from the delayed "deck". The winner is the one who has nothing left. After that, the points dropped during the passage are summed up. The classic game is played up to 200, 300 or 500 (by agreement).

How to play domino goat? The algorithm is almost the same, but the terms "fish" (a possible ending, in which you have the chips) and "eggs" appear. He, as a result, dials 101, is declared a "goat" and is considered a loser.

Domino secrets

To win more often, it is enough to remember the rules and secrets of the Goat dominoes, in which, in fact, there is nothing unusual.

 • The first tip is to develop your visual memory to remember which dice your opponent dropped. You can calculate and guess which ones are in his hands and which ones are in the "reserve".
 • Second, try to calculate your opponents, that is, follow your tactics. Everyone acts according to a certain algorithm, and if you establish a pattern, then success is guaranteed.
 • Third, practice with a good and experienced partner. This is necessary because the game is collective. If you are a beginner, do not strive to play with a large company.

Fish in dominoes

Usually the game ends when the opponent discards all the tiles that he had in stock. But one of the most popular similar outcomes is domino fish. In this case, the game ends if both sides have stones, but it is impossible to report them. The calculation of the numbers on the dominoes, which "lie on the hands". If you have the least minimum amount of "points", then the victory is awarded to you, but the difference in points is the winner. Then you play according to the same rules, and if such a blocking of the calculation occurs again, you should count according to the above algorithm.
