What's an adventurer to do? There are four ways to get better gear in TERA: find, earn, craft, or buy. From the examples given above, the first two options are clear without chewing, so let's look at what creating equipment is like.

How to produce?

While anyone can produce anything, not everyone can produce it right now. A good choice patterns are available from manufacturers in major cities, but rare models drop from monsters.

To produce anything you need time, a template appropriate to your skill, refined materials and reagents (for making materials that cannot be collected) or parts (for making finished products).

What can I produce?

There are six different crafts in TERA, and your character can learn them all or none at all, as you decide. You will only have to spend money on finding and purchasing templates and materials, there are no other training costs associated with “leveling up” the craft, and you may even be able to gain a little experience during the process.

Crafted items have several advantages over random monster loot. The first is that you always know exactly what you will get. If you need new set swords, you will get exactly that. The second advantage of what is produced is that it is usually of a higher level than the things you can get from quests or from monsters.

Generally speaking, every five levels you'll move up to a higher level of equipment, so think about maximizing your combat potential for your level. It's best when the weapon is the same level as the owner, and less so as the character develops.

Making melee weapons (Weaponsmithing)

This craft allows you to create spears and shields, axes, dual swords and two-handed swords. Refined ingots are used here, so knowing how to turn the ore you've been mining into something useful comes in handy.

Making ranged weapons (Focus Crafting)

This craft is for those who want to make their own ranged weapons. It allows you to make bows, discs, scepters and staves by fusing or refining the energy crystals of essence gathering into weapons for war.

Making heavy armor (Armorsmithing)

Lancers and Berserkers wear heavy armor, gloves, knee pads and this is the craft you will use to equip them. Crafting heavy armor uses the same ingots as crafting melee weapons, but you will need to learn individual templates to level up your ingot mastery.

Making light armor (Tailoring)

Warriors, slayers, and archers wear leather armor, gloves, and boots made from cured hides. This craft is the only one not directly tied to harvesting. Hides and skins can only be obtained from killed enemies.

Clothing making (Tailoring)

Sorcerers, mystics, and priests wear clothing, sleeves, and shoes made of cloth. You will need to use plant gathering to gather materials that can then be turned into fibers used in the craft's templates.

Alchemy

With this skill, your character can create consumables such as potions, scrolls, and paints that can help during adventures or just make you look good. In addition to ingots and fibers, alchemy uses its own specialized materials, recycled from rare versions of collected items.

Runes

Basic crafting will help you gear up at lower levels, but for the really good stuff you'll have to use runes. Only available as loot from monsters, runes are the magical "glue" that turns your crafting projects into something the adventurer actually wants. As the complexity of your patterns increases, the type of runes will need to change. The best equipment requires large runes, which drop from BAMs.

Unified theory of equipment

In TERA, all equipment (crafted or otherwise) has little in common. When choosing what equipment to wear or produce, you should keep in mind the characteristics of your character, the properties of the desired item, the number of crystal slots in it and your level.

Weapon

Weapons are something that will be useful for characters of all classes. You always want the most powerful weapon, which you can beg, buy, or knock out from a monster. As with other equipment you can equip, weapons have a level, and the higher the level, the more powerful the weapon.
Regardless of your stats, you should never equip a weapon of a lower level than the one you're using, but that doesn't mean you should always upgrade the one you have. Not right away, at least. If a lower level equipped weapon is more suited to your level, keep using it, especially if it has a special ability that you like. Just be aware that if you use a weapon five or more levels past its prime, all you really gain from it are those special abilities.

Weapons have three universal stats, regardless of which class uses them.


  • Attack Modifier: Your character's stat, called attack, determines how much base damage you deal. Your weapon significantly increases this indicator.
  • Extra Damage: Your character's stat, called Knockdown, determines the likelihood of knocking an opponent to the ground during combat and varies by class. The extra damage on your weapon increases your chances of knocking down an enemy.
  • Additional MP: Equipping a weapon increases the maximum amount of MP.

Armor

Armor levels are the same as weapons and follow the same rules. "Armor" here refers to all types and slots (metal, leather and cloth for the body, arms and legs).
The basic characteristics of armor are different from the characteristics of weapons, but they work essentially the same.


  • Defense Modifier: Your character's attribute, called Defense, is the second most effective way to reduce damage (the first is "not getting hit"). The higher this value, the less damage you will receive. But seriously, don't get hit.
  • Balance Modifier: If you don't stand, you don't attack. More importantly, you won't be able to move out of the way of an attack if you can't move. Not falling is a big deal. The higher this characteristic, the better you will feel.
  • Additional MP: Armor equipment increases the maximum amount of MP.

All the rest

Jewelry cannot be crafted yourself, but necklaces, rings and earrings change your character's stats in the same way as weapons and armor. They rarely have special abilities, but the better they are, the more likely you are to want to keep them for a while.

Creating craft displays

Although there are various rewards for collecting, if you already have one or more characters who fill your bank with materials, you do not need to start a third (or eighth) character following the same path. Also, if you're in a decent guild, you might have another bank overflowing with materials collected by others.
Simply put, if you don't want to do collecting but want to do crafts, don't worry about it. You will need to borrow or buy raw materials and produce to increase your skill level for this ideal template.

But what if you don't want to watch your character stand in front of a stand to gain a few hundred skill points? It turns out you won't have to. TERA has several ways to relieve your pain.

Stand elsewhere

You don't have to wait to return to major cities to increase your crafting skill. If you have the materials on hand, you can craft anywhere as long as you have a campfire. Out of reagents? There is no need to stop the adventure. Vendors in all cities sell alchemical supplies.


Sometimes spending time waiting for the boss to drop something you need isn't as fun anymore. The cool quest reward isn't strong enough for the next fight, and you don't feel safe cutting through a crowd of skeletons.

So what should a traveler do? There are four ways to get better gear in TERA: find it, earn it, craft it, or buy it. The first of the two cases described is not the topic of today's conversation, so let's talk about how to create equipment.

How to craft?

Unified theory of equipment

All TERA gear (crafted or otherwise) has a few things in common. When choosing equipment for crafting or wearing, you need to take into account your performance, the properties of the desired items, the number of slots for crystals that it has, as well as your level.

Weapon

Weapons are something that all character classes need. You will always want to get your hands on the most powerful specimen that you can beg, buy or knock out of a monster. Like other equipment you carry, weapons are divided into tier levels, and the most powerful weapons are at the highest tier.

Regardless of the stats, you should never carry a weapon of a lower level than the one you are using, although this does not mean that you have to constantly upgrade it. At least not right away. If a low-level weapon you're carrying better suits your level's needs, keep using it, especially if it has a special ability that you like. Just keep in mind that if you carry a weapon for five or more levels, the only thing that will eventually be effective is that special ability.

The weapon has three universal characteristics, regardless of which class uses it.

-Attack Modifier (attack modifier): Your character's attack rating determines how much base damage you deal. Your weapon increases it significantly.
-Extra Damage (extra damage): Your character's Knockdown stat determines the frequency with which you knock an opponent to the ground during combat, varying depending on class. "Extra Damage" on a weapon increases the chance of knocking down an enemy.
-Additional MP (extra mana): When you equip a weapon, your maximum mana increases.

Armor

Tier levels of armor are the same as for weapons - they follow the same rules. The word "Armor" here refers to all its types and cells (metal, leather and fabric for the body, arms and feet).

The basic abilities of armor are different from weapons, but generally work the same.

-Defense Modify r (defense modifier): your character's Defense stat is the second highest effective method reducing incoming damage (the first is to avoid getting hit). The higher its value, the less damage you will receive. But jokes aside - avoid getting hit.
-Balance Modifier(balance modifier): If you are prone, you cannot attack. More importantly, you won't be able to avoid attacks if you can't move. The ability to avoid getting knocked down is very important. The higher your Balance score, the better off you will be.
-Additional MP(Additional Mana): Equipping armor pieces increases your maximum mana.

All the rest

Jewelry does not have a crafting skill, but necklaces, rings, and earrings also modify your character's stats in the same way as weapons with armor. They rarely have special abilities, but what better item– the longer you will want to wear it.

Item Level

You probably already know that your equipment also has a level, and that two pieces of armor of the same type and tier level can have different stat values. The average of all your equipment adds up to your “gear score”. This number is largely meaningless, but is sometimes taken into account when using the dungeon selection system. It acts as a guarantee that you will not waste your teammates' time and yours in the dungeon, so you need a certain value in order to enter the dungeon through the selection system.

If, however, you want to go into it with just your friends - or a group made entirely of players from your world - you won't need to worry about your item levels, although having the right gear for the occasion won't hurt.

The art of crafting

Despite the fact that gathering has its own own awards, if one of your characters has already filled the bank with materials, you should not start pumping up a third (or eighth) character in the same vein. Plus, if you are a member of a decent guild, you have another bank filled to capacity with materials collected by other players.

Simply put, if you feel like collecting isn't your thing but want to get into crafting, you don't have to worry about it. Borrow or buy the rare materials you need and craft what you want.

But what if you don't like seeing your characters hunched over a workbench trying to get a couple hundred skill points? It turns out that you can do without it. TERA has several options to ease your suffering.

Another way

You don't have to wait until you return to a major city to increase your crafting skill. If you have the materials in your hands, you can craft anywhere where there is a campfire. Are you running low on reagents? No need to stop traveling - merchants in all cities will sell you necessary items supplies for alchemy.

Quests

The Argon Queen has some exciting new Tier 14 gear. The best part is that it's craftable and is a Bind of Pickup item, making players like you want to consider maxing it out. their crafting skills. In fact, TERA's September 24th patch introduced over a hundred new crafting quests to help players meet this challenge.

There are quests for all six professions - with their help you can raise your crafting to 350. Quests for crafting armor and weapons will help you level them up to the maximum value of 410.

How to find crafting quests

Crafting quests come in pairs: the first one offers you a recipe that can be used in the second. You can get the first quest through the crafting panel or notice board in any city. Quests of the “guild hunting” category are posted on the same boards. Look for the blue exclamation mark on the map. In this quest, you will be sent to an NPC who will offer you a companion quest.

The second quest is taken during the crafting process. The NPC will give you unique rare materials or kits needed for the recipe you just received. You'll need to buy some additional materials from crafting merchants, use the crafting interface to craft 25 items, and then eventually hand them over to complete the quest.

As soon as you take on any crafting quest, it is displayed in the quest logs of the “Zone Quests” panel. All quests for crafting levels from 1 to 250 are shown in the “Crafting Support” section. Quests for crafting levels 250 and above are displayed in the “Your Masterful Support” section.

Crafting efficiency

In order to find out how you can save time and money, let’s do the calculations. Each pair of quests (except the last one) covers 50 levels of crafting skill. For each successfully created item, it increases by several points. Crafting quests require you to craft 25 items. Therefore, it turns out that you will reach the skill limit before you finish the quest.

To save time, you only need to craft 9 or 10 items required in the quest in order to reach the skill cap for a given recipe. You can then cancel the task and take on another pair from the notice board. You will lose quest rewards (maximum 1.5 gold and 150,000 experience points), so you need to decide whether to cancel it.

Let's talk about money... although the NPC gives you a lot of materials, you will have to buy some yourself from merchants. If you are going to craft all 25 items to complete the quest, it will cost you from 2.5 to 19 gold coins. Crafting 9 or 10 items will save you over 60% of these costs (and more than enough to compensate you for the loss of quest rewards).

However, some players know an even more cost-effective path to level 250. If you collected rare materials while leveling up, then you already have the lion's share of the materials needed to create ingots: ore, fiber or essence. To increase your crafting level from 1 to 50 - instead of spending 89 silver coins for your first quest craft - you can spend only 10 silver coins on a recipe for processing ore, fiber or essence, plus another 11 silver for the 18 reagents required to repeat the craft 9 times. If you only want to level up your crafting, then crafting from collected materials already available will be much less expensive than when completing crafting quests - until you reach the skill level to 200. At this point, materials for nine crafting quests items will cost approximately 7 gold coins - versus more than 9 gold coins for processing collected materials. And at level 250, collected materials will not increase your level at all.

One more point regarding Leatherworking. Since the skins cannot simply be collected from the world, collecting them is much more difficult. When crafting this way, your costs will increase significantly. If you don't have your own skins, then Leatherworking crafting quests can be more profitable, saving you money and time.

Craft

As I already said, for me personally, only alchemy is important in Tera, but this does not mean that we will bypass all other types of crafting, at lvl 60 all types of crafting can be completely closed in a few hours, but I will tell you about pumping a little lower, but for now that we will analyze what types of craft are available to us and what they are needed for. There are a total of 7 types of crafting in Tera, the last type of alliance crafting was added with the last patch, and in my opinion it is less necessary than all the others. So let's move on to the types:

  • Armorsmithing - Crafting heavy armor.
  • Weaponsmithing - Crafting swords, bows, duals, spears.
  • Tailoring - Crafting fabric armor.
  • Focuscrafting - Crafting staves, disks, scepters.
  • Leatherworking - Crafting leather armor.
  • Alchemy - Crafting cans, scrolls.
  • Alliance Supplies - Crafting items for wars on alliance territory.

Each of the types is useful in its own way, but in my opinion it is only necessary at lvl 60 to craft visionmaker and nightforge armor and weapons for your class; to earn money, personally, in my opinion, it is beneficial to use only alchemy. All recipes and crafting materials can be obtained in several ways.

  • Buy on auction
  • Buy from special merchants
  • Knock out from mobs
  • Knock out from bosses

The most valuable materials for crafting fall from bosses in the 60s dungeons, with alchemy the situation is much simpler, just collecting flowers. Now let's get down to the most important thing, upgrading crafting.

The resources for crafting will also be given to you by the NPC during the quest, you will only need to buy more of what is missing, but it doesn’t matter; the additional purchase costs a penny.

Outside the cities, having all the necessary materials on hand, you can craft at Campfire (Bonfires for stamina regen) and at bonfires in suburban camps. You need to buy additional materials for tasks in cities in crafting zones from NPCs who usually stand next to machines; for each type of crafting there are 2 NPCs, one of which you will find designs for crafting and the second required material, except that you can buy it from the auction or get it from mobs.

Outside cities, when crafting in camps and Campfire, the crafting menu is called up using the J button. This is how crafting in the game is done. Each type has its own number of points, to craft armor and weapons of maximum lvl we will need 410 crafting points, for alchemy the maximum value is 350. How to collect?

Collecting items is very easy: just walk up to a pickable object and press "F", all such items will be highlighted on your radar.

The professionalism of the collector is a very important parameter, because in order to obtain/collect some materials, you need a certain skill as a collector. Plus, the higher your skill, the higher your chance of successful mining. The skill is upgraded with any collection - whether it is successful or unsuccessful, but a positive result has a better effect on the upgrade.

What will I get by collecting?

The three main resources for crafting are obtained by collecting plants, ore and essence. Also sometimes you can collect rare resources needed for herbalism or alchemy, for example.

In addition to the resources you collect, you will also receive a buff. These buffs vary: some can increase your movement speed, some can restore health and mana, or increase your stamina. Each buff can stack up to three times.

And, of course, your gathering skill also improves.

Productivity points

You may notice a box with a decreasing value each time you collect. These are productivity points. Each attempt to collect something will take 10 productivity points from you, while they are restored by 5 points every 5 minutes. Crafting also takes productivity points from you, but the number of points taken varies. If you need to quickly restore these points, you can purchase special potions - Crafter's Cure and Crafter's Cure-All - to restore a certain number of points. These potions are available from merchants or Valkyon Outfitters.

What is craft?
Crafting allows you to create anything from potions to bombs and weapons highest quality. The materials required for crafting can either be mined or collected, or they drop from monsters in dungeons and in the overworld.

Creating armor

There’s nothing special here either: you study this profession and create cool boots/gloves/armor for yourself from fabric, leather or metal.

  • For classes with heavy armor (lancer, berserker), creating armor will require the same refined ingots as in weapon crafting.
  • The leather armor worn by the Reaper, Warrior, Archer, and Assassin will require cured hides. This is the only armor that is not associated with gathering, because skins drop exclusively from killed monsters.
  • Cloth armor used by wizards, mystics, and priests will require purified fibers. Plant gathering skill is important for these classes.

Etching

Etching allows you to create scrolls that temporarily or permanently improve the performance of your equipment. This is the only profession that requires level 60 to begin learning. Pickling requires awards in all three "gathering" professions. They are not very easy to get, so start earning them as early as possible.

  • Regular scrolls give an improvement for 3 days, but their critical versions give permanent effect, also with improved performance.
Increasing crafting level
To start crafting, you need to understand what you need to do. In the main cities - Velika, Allemantheia and Kaiator - there are entire “crafting locations”. They are indicated by the following symbols:

Just go there and buy a few “blanks” of your choice, from which you can start creating items. Make sure they are NOT gray, as this means they are beyond your crafting skill level. Once you have purchased a blank, called “design” in the game, just right-click on it and study it. After which, by pressing J you can go to the crafting window and examine the item more closely.

The PC will show you how many of these items you can create from the materials you have. It will also show you how much experience you will receive and how many productivity points you will gain for each unit you create.

Crafting Specialization

The more things you create, the more experience you will have and the higher your skill level will be. In total, the game has 500 levels of pumping, however, having reached level 500, you can try to become a craftsman, a legend of this profession. Each character can become an artisan of only one profession. You can abandon your specialization, but your crafting skill will then drop back to 500, and all crafting recipes you learn will be lost.

Crits when crafting

When you craft an item, there is a small chance of a crit. If you get a crit while refining materials, you will receive an additional amount of them. If you get a crit while crafting a high-level item, you can craft a flawless version of that item, depending on its type. The crafting window itself will show in case of a crit whether it passed and what plus you will receive. If you want to increase the chance of such a crit, you can try using an artisan additive potion.

Leveling up the collection also depends on the degree of difficulty - if your character’s collection level is higher than the resource, then you will no longer increase this level. We'll have to look for another location. Buffs are sometimes applied for collecting resources in Tera. Say, gaining courage, which increases vigor by 5%, gaining health, accelerating health regeneration, gaining soul for quick mana recovery, blessing of speed for fast travel and gaining knowledge for accelerated collection.

Why, if you plan to make money from this, do you need to start working from the first minutes of the game? The fact is that when collecting resources, experience points are given. Moving to cooler locations as the character grows, the player gets the opportunity to collect ingredients of a higher rank. But this cannot be done if you have not gained experience points from simple resources. The worry of those who are afraid of not having time to upgrade their gathering in any particular location is not justified. There are a lot of resources, they appear quite often, and you don’t have to line up for them. That is, when completing some simple task, you can collect a decent amount of the necessary resources, while earning the required number of pumping points.

For collecting each ingredient, the character receives one experience point. In this case, there is a chance of getting an improved version. For example, while collecting a plant, a character will at some point discover an item of higher quality in his bag.

Titles and awards

In addition to money from the sale of resources and the opportunity to create personal armor, the character receives a title and a reward. Of course, not immediately, but only after collecting 300 units of plants, ore or essences. The reward is specific, for flowers you get a chamomile, for essences you get a sphere, and for ore you can get a halo. All rewards are visible, you can move them to a specific cell in the character menu and immediately see external changes.

All you need is experience in gathering or financial means to purchase the necessary ingredients. There are several types of manufacturing in the game:

  • Crafting non-magical weapons, such as spears, swords, duals, bows.
  • Crafting magical weapons: discs, scepters, staves.
  • Crafting heavy armor.
  • Crafting light armor.
  • Crafting fabric armor.

Firstly, already at the stage of choosing a race, it would be nice to take into account the unique skills that provide advantages in one or another version of crafting. For example, Humans make light armor faster, and Castanics are good at crafting metal weapons. Elves are excellent at collecting essences, and Popori are generally considered the best collectors. Of course, all this is not so important in the end, but at first it will speed up the development of the necessary skills.

Secondly, you need to choose the desired type of craft. If you have a lot of time and money, you can try to raise all directions, but usually they take on one or two types. It is unlikely that a Knight will need to make magic weapons, and a Priest will need to master the skill of crafting heavy armor. But alchemy, or the preparation of elixirs needed in battle, will be needed by everyone.

Crafting requires not only raw materials, but also special drawings, which can be purchased directly in the craft hall from the corresponding NPCs. Some drawings also drop from mobs. You collect the raw materials yourself, walking around the locations, or purchasing them at auction. With all this farming, you go to the craft tools and start crafting - you can make one item or order the production of a batch. In the latter case, the character consistently creates one thing after another until the resources or points allocated for crafting activities run out. Each crafted item increases the character's crafting experience. Over time - similar to the collection - you will stop receiving it. This means that your crafting level is higher than that of the item being crafted. In these cases, you need to get it from NPCs new recipes for more complex items. As you level up, you move from beginner to journeyman to journeyman to master. As you increase your rank, you will have to pass additional tests.
