Battlefield vietnam: guides and walkthroughs. Battlefield Vietnam Guide & Walkthrough Combat Tactics, Maps

Another creation from Electronic Arts on the topic of military action of our century, this time it is the American war in Vietnam. The fighting takes place in Vietnam during the 60s and early 70s. By the way, the soundtrack for the game is in the style of those times, and such performers of the times of the psychedelic revolution as Jeffersons Airplane and Tom Jones, undoubtedly, give a certain charm to the game.

The game, by and large, supports only one mode - multiplayer, and what is called “single” is nothing more than the same multiplayer mode, but with bots (artificial intelligence), the level and number of which can be selected from the menu. Now about the menu and the interface: in general, everything is very simple and straightforward, even for a player who has sat down for a game of this type for the first time. The only hitch can arise when setting up the control keys, since they are divided into several subsections: permanent, when playing as an infantry, controlling flying vehicles, controlling sea vehicles. The main thing here is to prevent the conflict of some keys with others; if you do not forget about this, then problems should not arise in the future. And if they do, the keys can be changed without leaving the game. Otherwise, everything is done stylishly, modestly and informatively, there is nothing to complain about.

I would like to say a few words about the schedule. There are many options for configuring the screen, like any modern game, but you need the latest drivers for the video card (at the time of the game's release) and DirectX 9. With all the necessary settings, the graphics will delight with their richness and beauty. By the way, I recommend making the gamma 1-2 units larger than usual in the graphics settings menu, this will add juiciness to the image.

Rules of the game

To the point. It's about a mode that EA (Electronic Arts) called Single Play. As already mentioned, the Americans and the Vietnamese are involved in this war. Since the action takes place in Vietnam, the landscape will mainly be tropical, with a frequent admixture of coastal landscapes. The essence of the game is that with the help of your colleagues (you can play for both the Americans and the Viet Cong), beat off the outposts from the enemy (in the game they are marked with flags on the map), which, depending on the type of map, are from four to ten. At the beginning, there are only two captured points, one is yours, and the other is at the other end of the map for your opponent. The number of combatants, their level and the balance of forces are changed in the battle settings. You choose the place on the map where you want to be born (this is possible only where the flag of your team is marked), and begin your difficult path to capture the territory. As soon as you get to a post not captured by your troops, it will come under your control in a few seconds. The fewer the captured points from your opponent - the longer the next ones are captured; you will have to fight off the enemies born at this point until your flag hovers over the point (by the way, if this is the last unoccupied enemy point, you will have to wait more than a minute). If the enemies overpowered you and you were killed, choose a friendly point on the map, after a few seconds you will appear at the place you have chosen and will be able to continue the battle. By the way, at each post there are places where you can replenish your weapons and health.

The choice of weapons is really rich here, you can choose your element from four types: infantryman, repairman, explosivesman and sniper. Each type has its own equipment, which I will discuss in more detail below.

In addition to the standard sets of weapons, the maps also have various equipment that you can use: jeeps, tanks, boats (both combat and simple), helicopters of various types, and even real combat aircraft. All this will be discussed in the "Equipment and weapons" section.

Weapon specifics

Any small arms have a “aiming” function: you just need to press the right mouse button, and the object of the sight will be a little closer to you.

Knife-can be used only when approaching the enemy silently.

Gun- low firing range and not very high efficiency. It should be used when there are no more cartridges in the machine, but there are still enemies.

Carbines, rifles, machine guns, machine guns-the basis of all the basics. It is better to shoot 2-3 rounds from machine guns, and the accuracy is higher and the efficiency is higher. The enemy usually dies after the second hit.

Grenade launchers, mortars, rockets-Mainly a vehicle against vehicles, with the exception of the M-79 mortar and grenade launcher, which are as effective against infantry as they are against vehicles.

Explosives-Excellent for sabotage activities, depending on the type - either anti-tank, or anti-personnel, or combined action.

Vietnamese "traps": Pierce the wheels of jeeps when hitting them, and reduce the health of the infantry if you walk over them.

Repair Keys- provide an opportunity to repair equipment.

America

M-16 Assault Rifle-a massive weapon of the American army, a magazine for 20 rounds of 5.56 caliber, a very light rifle for its class, and with high firing accuracy; An excellent weapon for aimed shooting at close and medium range.

M-16 Sniper Rifle- the same M-16, but installed for firing single cartridges. With an attached sniper scope, it allows accurate shooting at long distances.

CAR-15-modification of the M-16, with a shortened barrel and a larger magazine capacity, for 30 rounds of 5.56 caliber, the choice of special forces. The large number of rounds makes the CAR-15 an indispensable weapon for assault operations.

Mossberg Shotgun-pump gun, the best friend of a fighter in close combat. Will help clear the way even in a large crowd. Cons - in low range and a small number of shots.

M-21 Sniper Rifle-standard sniper carbine, with a good scope, a fairly fast reload mechanism and a magazine for 10 rounds.

M-60- light machine gun. Although the classification "light" is not entirely fair. The magazine for 100 rounds of 7.62 caliber makes this weapon ideal for almost any purpose, up to shooting at aerial targets. The only drawback is the large spread of bullets at long distances.

M1 81mm Mortar- mortar caliber 81 mm. 20 charges are quite enough to adjust the shooting and cover the enemy with fire, even a very well hidden or fortified one. Has a long range. The downside is that the ammunition is not replenished.

M-72 LAW Rocket Launcher-66 mm charges are capable of hitting armored targets at medium and close ranges. Ineffective against infantry.

Vietnam

AK-47-model 1949, is still in service with many countries. Effective firing range - up to 800 meters. The rate of fire is lower than that of the M-16, but the magazine holds 30 rounds and the firing range is higher than that of the American machine gun.

AKMS-modification of the AK-47, in principle, is identical to the original, but the firing accuracy is slightly lower.

MAT-49- a powerful submachine gun with a magazine for 32 rounds of 7.62 mm caliber, lethal melee weapon - but with a very large spread.

Chicom SKS 56-semi-automatic assault carbine made in China, a 10-round magazine and a very simple design. Quite good shooting characteristics at medium distances allow it to be used almost as a sniper weapon (without an optical sight).

M-91/30 Sniper Rifle-sniper rifle, 5 rounds magazine. Outdated model, with low accuracy over long distances.

SVD Sniper Rifle-sniper rifle that replaced the M-91/30. The 10-round magazine, excellent accuracy and high performance in any weather make this rifle a delightful weapon for professionals and beginners alike.

RPD-a light machine gun for 100 rounds of 7.62 mm caliber, has excellent destructive power and higher firing accuracy than the American M-60. True, the shooting accuracy is increased due to the lower rate of fire than that of the American machine gun.

TYPE-53-Chinese machine gun of the Second World War, completely useless, inaccurate and heavy apparatus, with a disc-type cartridge feed mechanism. Disk capacity for 47 rounds.

MORTAR TYPE -53-a mortar, similar in parameters to the American M1, but with a smaller caliber - 60 millimeters.

RPG-7V- a light anti-tank grenade launcher, perfect for destroying the enemy on the armor (machine gunners), and for destroying the armored means themselves. The disadvantages are the small number of charges. To destroy a medium tank, you need at least 3 direct hits.

SA-7-Portable missile system 1967, with heat-seeking missiles. It can hit flying objects at a distance of up to 4 kilometers, an excellent weapon for air defense. The downside is that maximum efficiency is achieved when firing at either slow flying targets or targets flying in a straight line. It is almost impossible to hit an aircraft performing a sharp maneuver.

Specificity of troop types

Infantry-If you like shooting, melee, explosions and death around - this is your element. The greatest number of defeated enemies is precisely the merit of the infantry. The only drawback is the low resistance to armored vehicles, in this case you should rely only on grenades, of which there are not so many.

Mechanics-universal fighters. In their arsenal there is everything for conducting combat operations in any conditions. The mortar is an excellent tool for bombarding enemy positions from long distances and helping your troops to seize new territories. It is also great for driving vehicles, as it can repair them at any time if the car has been hit.

Grenade launchers- a thunderstorm of tanks and aircraft, armed with a machine gun - which is important when attacking the enemy, since a large number of cartridges in the store allows you to shoot for a long time without reloading.

Sniper-he is also a sniper in Africa. The crosshairs and the enemy's body are a deadly cocktail. Smoke grenades from the Americans are very convenient - when attacking, and when retreating too. The sniper must be invisible.

Technique

All vehicles in the game are available to any troops, that is, Americans can control Vietnamese vehicles and vice versa. To use, you need to approach the machine and press the “use” key. After that, you will find yourself inside, and you can select your position on board with the buttons 1,2,3,4 and so on, depending on the available seats. There is a window at the bottom of the screen with numbers indicating your position. That is, you do not need to drive a car, you can be a shooter or just a passenger. It is important to set up the parachute deployment button in the control: if your plane or helicopter gets knocked down, or your pilot turns out to be not so good (and this happens), then there is always the opportunity to jump out and land unharmed.

Advice: if you want to take a seat in the transport, but do not have time to approach it before its take-off / departure - click F1, by this you will submit a request to be picked up, and if there is a place in the transport, he will return for you (provided that he is not far). After landing - press F5, by this you tell the driver that you can get under way.

American technology

ATC-sea transport, with an onboard gun, machine guns and a helicopter landing / repair platform.

ATC-47 CHINOOK-transport helicopter. You can be both a pilot and a passenger. There is no armament.

A-7 CORSAIR- naval aviation bomber, usually found on ships.

ASSAULT HELICOPTER- a two-seat combat helicopter equipped with a grenade launcher and two automatic rapid-fire cannons, very good against other helicopters.

TRANSPORT HELICOPTER-landing helicopter, equipped with two M-60 machine guns on the sides, you can be a pilot, passenger, gunner on the left or right side.

M110-cannon on tracks. Well suited for long-range position strikes.

M113- an armored personnel carrier with a machine gun on the tower, accommodates six passengers.

MUTT-Jeep equipped with a rocket launcher, an excellent vehicle for a surprise strike.

PATTON- a medium-sized tank, equipped with a 90 mm cannon and a machine gun on the turret.

PBR- patrol boat.

SHERIDAN- a heavy tank equipped with a 152 mm cannon and a machine gun on the turret.

PHANTOM-a fighter carrying 12 heat-guided missiles and 5 napalm bombs on board. Copes well with helicopters and other slow moving vehicles.

Vietnamese technology

BM-21-Movable multiple launch rocket system.

BTR-60- an armored personnel carrier with a machine gun, can carry up to 6 people.

MI-8- the famous helicopter. Carries 4 rocket launchers, suitable for fighting helicopters and tanks.

MI-8 CARGO-transport modification of the Mi-8, with an open tailgate, passengers can shoot from their own weapons, sitting on the edge.

MIG-17-light fighter, equipped with a machine gun.

MIG-21-a fighter-interceptor armed with machine guns and a rocket launcher.

PT-6- a floating tank, equipped with a 76 mm cannon and a machine gun on the roof. Due to its ability to swim, it has thin armor and low speed.

T-54-midsize tank, something in between the American "Sheridan" and "Patton". Equipped with a 100mm cannon and a rooftop machine gun.

UAZ-469- good old "goat". Equipped with a stationary machine gun.

SCOOTER-smart scooter. If you need to get from point A to point B as quickly as possible, then this is an irreplaceable solution. It can carry 2 people, and the passenger can fire from his weapon on the go.

ZSU-57-2-Self-propelled installation, equipped with a dual anti-aircraft gun. Ideal against planes and helicopters.

Combat tactics, cards

The game proceeds until one of the parties destroys a certain number of enemies. The balance of power is shown in the upper right corner of the map. As soon as someone is killed, he appears on a friendly base, but each death takes one point from the team's asset.

There are several types of cards. Let's call them like this: flat (aka - urban), river and sea. On flat There is only land on the map, that is, all actions take place in one area, usually a city. In these cases, from the additional equipment there are tracked and wheeled vehicles, aircraft and helicopters are absent. River the maps represent a large number of islands separated by a river. On these maps, the bases are usually far from each other and getting from where you appeared to the next base is quite difficult, especially when you need to do it quickly, so these maps have all kinds of vehicles, including planes and helicopters. On marine Maps usually have two main bases (American and Vietnamese), where all the equipment is located, and a large island in the center, on which the main battle will unfold. You can get to the theater of military operations only by sea transport or by air (you can, of course, swim, but for a very long time). So, let's take a closer look at each type of cards and battle tactics on them.

Plain maps

Here the battles are always intense, and success alternately passes from one team to another. It makes no sense to use the technique, since it is quite difficult to spot an enemy with a grenade launcher among the ruins. And the enemy usually attacks with large forces, so here it is better to choose the option of mass destruction than a pinpoint strike. An infantryman or sniper is best suited for this. The sniper, of course, will have a hard time, since, having noticed him, the enemies concentrate fire on him.

It is easier for an infantryman to get lost among the ruins of houses, and in the event of a large group of enemies, it is always possible to use grenades. Avoid open areas whenever possible.

River maps

Installation of a mortar.

Long distances between bases are best covered with the help of helicopters, and if you are not going to hunt other helicopters, it is best to sit down as a passenger, and when you fly over the base you need, drop off.

Advice: try to open the parachute as close to the ground as possible. This will minimize the chances of being shot in the air.

Naturally, on this type of maps, the technique is not very effective, except for the one that can overcome water obstacles. Use radio commands more often to negotiate with your colleagues, this will help you not to be trapped by ten enemies alone.

And in general, if you are not a sniper, try to stay close to yours. The sniper is more suitable to go on a free hunt. Usually, you can hide near the enemy base (while bypassing the offensive path, so as not to catch the eyes of the enemies), and shoot one or a couple of opponents, bringing the victory step by step closer. Also on these maps, mortars are very effective, which should be installed on elevations near the enemy base, but within sight - this will help you aim.

Nautical charts

Perhaps the most beautiful and largest of all. Air battles and naval skirmishes prevail here. Technicians and grenade launchers are of the greatest interest here. The former can lay mines in the landing zones, the latter shoot down planes and sink ships. Snipers can also spoil the life of the landing force, but they are defenseless against helicopters.

Advice: When flying an airplane, keep an eye on the battle zone; when you leave it after 5 seconds, your health will begin to decrease until you return to the battle zone.

Flying in an airplane, it is best to gain altitude and, diving into an enemy base, drop bombs on it or shoot from machine guns and missiles. If you like the tactics of guerrilla warfare, enter the game as a mechanic and, having penetrated the enemy base, plant one mine in front of each vehicle, then hide, preferably in a room where there is a supply of ammunition to replenish the mines you have laid.

Advice: to quickly penetrate the enemy base, you can get on a plane and, diving into an enemy airfield (hangars with equipment, etc.), catapult at the very ground. Here you are behind enemy lines, and the wrecked plane will still appear at your base in a few seconds.

Most likely, this is not where we say goodbye to the game; tips for online skirmishes on Vietnamese soil to follow shortly. See you!

Weapon specifics

Any small arms have a "aiming" function: you just need to press the right mouse button, and the object of the sight will be a little closer to you.

Knife& mdash can only be used when approaching the enemy silently.

Gun- low firing range and not very high efficiency. It should be used when there are no more cartridges in the machine, but there are still enemies.

Carbines, rifles, machine guns, machine guns& mdash the backbone of all the basics. It is better to shoot 2-3 rounds from machine guns, and the accuracy is higher and the efficiency is higher. The enemy usually dies after the second hit.

Grenade launchers, mortars, rockets- basically a vehicle against vehicles, with the exception of the M-79 mortar and grenade launcher, which are as effective against infantry as they are against vehicles.

Explosives& mdash is excellent for sabotage activities, depending on the type - either anti-tank, or anti-personnel, or combined action.

Vietnamese "traps": Pierce the wheels of jeeps when hitting them, and reduce the health of the infantry if you walk over them.

Repair Keys& mdash provide an opportunity to repair equipment.

America

M-16 Assault Rifle- a mass weapon of the American army, a magazine for 20 rounds of 5.56 caliber, a very light rifle for its class, and with high firing accuracy; An excellent weapon for aimed shooting at close and medium range.

M-16 Sniper Rifle- the same M-16, but installed for firing single cartridges. With an attached sniper scope, it allows accurate shooting at long distances.

CAR-15- modification of the M-16, with a shortened barrel and a larger magazine capacity, for 30 rounds of 5.56 caliber, the choice of special forces. The large number of rounds makes the CAR-15 an indispensable weapon for assault operations.

Mossberg Shotgun- a pump gun, the best friend of a fighter in close combat. Will help clear the way even in a large crowd. Cons - in low range and a small number of shots.

M-21 Sniper Rifle- a standard sniper carbine, with a good scope, a fairly fast reloading mechanism and a magazine for 10 rounds.

M-60& mdash light machine gun. Although the classification "light" is not entirely fair. The magazine for 100 rounds of 7.62 caliber makes this weapon ideal for almost any purpose, up to shooting at aerial targets. The only drawback is the large spread of bullets at long distances.

M1 81mm Mortar& mdash 81 mm caliber miner. 20 charges are quite enough to adjust the shooting and cover the enemy with fire, even a very well hidden or fortified one. Has a long range. The downside is that the ammunition is not replenished.

M-72 LAW Rocket Launcher- 66-millimeter charges are capable of hitting armored targets at medium and close ranges. Ineffective against infantry.

Vietnam

AK-47- model of 1949, is still in service with many countries. Effective firing range - up to 800 meters. The rate of fire is lower than that of the M-16, but the magazine holds 30 rounds and the firing range is higher than that of the American machine gun.

AKMS- the modification of the AK-47 is, in principle, identical to the original, but the firing accuracy is slightly lower.

MAT-49- a powerful submachine gun with a magazine for 32 rounds of 7.62 mm caliber, a lethal melee weapon - but with a very large spread.

Chicom SKS 56- a semi-automatic assault carbine made in China, a magazine for 10 rounds and a very simple design. Quite good shooting characteristics at medium distances allow it to be used almost as a sniper weapon (without an optical sight).

M-91/30 Sniper Rifle& mdash sniper rifle, magazine for 5 rounds. Outdated model, with low accuracy over long distances.

SVD Sniper Rifle- the sniper rifle that replaced the M-91/30. The 10-round magazine, excellent accuracy and high performance in any weather make this rifle a delightful weapon for professionals and beginners alike.

RPD- a light machine gun for 100 rounds of 7.62 mm caliber, has excellent destructive power and higher firing accuracy than the American M-60. True, the shooting accuracy is increased due to the lower rate of fire than that of the American machine gun.

TYPE-53- A Chinese machine gun of the Second World War, a completely useless, inaccurate and heavy apparatus, with a disc-type cartridge feed mechanism. Disk capacity for 47 rounds.

MORTAR TYPE -53- a mortar, similar in parameters to the American M1, but with a smaller caliber - 60 millimeters.

RPG-7V- a light anti-tank grenade launcher, perfect for destroying the enemy on the armor (machine gunners), and for the destruction of the armored means themselves. The disadvantages are the small number of charges. To destroy a medium tank, you need at least 3 direct hits.

SA-7& mdash a 1967 portable missile system, with heat-seeking missiles.

Infantry- if you like shootouts, melee, explosions and death around - this is your element. The greatest number of defeated enemies is precisely the merit of the infantry. The only drawback is the low resistance to armored vehicles, in this case you should rely only on grenades, of which there are not so many.

Mechanics& mdashuniversal fighters.

Sniper& mdash he's a sniper in Africa.

To use, you need to approach the machine and press the "use" key.

ATC- sea transport, with an onboard gun, machine guns and a landing / repair platform for helicopters.

ATC-47 CHINOOK& mdash transport helicopter. You can be both a pilot and a passenger. There is no armament.

A-7 CORSAIR- naval aviation bomber, usually found on ships.

ASSAULT HELICOPTER- a two-seat combat helicopter, equipped with a grenade launcher and two automatic rapid-fire cannons, is very good against other helicopters.

TRANSPORT HELICOPTER- an amphibious helicopter, equipped with two M-60 machine guns on the sides, you can be a pilot, passenger, gunner on the left or right side.

M110& mdash cannon on tracks. Well suited for long-range position strikes.

M113- an armored personnel carrier with a machine gun on the tower, accommodates six passengers.

MUTT- a jeep equipped with a rocket-propelled grenade launcher, an excellent machine for a surprise strike.

PATTON- a medium-sized tank, equipped with a 90-mm cannon and a machine gun on the turret.

PBR& mdash patrol boat.

SHERIDAN- a heavy tank equipped with a 152 mm cannon and a machine gun on the turret.

PHANTOM- a fighter carrying 12 heat-guided missiles and 5 napalm bombs on board. Copes well with helicopters and other slow moving vehicles.

Vietnamese technology

BM-21& mdash a mobile multiple launch rocket system.

BTR-60- an armored personnel carrier with a machine gun, can carry up to 6 people.

MI-8& mdash the famous helicopter. Carries 4 rocket launchers, suitable for fighting helicopters and tanks.

MI-8 CARGO- transport modification of the Mi-8, with an open tailgate, passengers can shoot from their own weapons, sitting on the edge.

MIG-17& mdash a light fighter equipped with a machine gun.

MIG-21- an interceptor fighter armed with machine guns and a rocket launcher.

PT-6- a floating tank, equipped with a 76 mm cannon and a machine gun on the roof. Due to its ability to swim, it has thin armor and low speed.

T-54- a medium-sized tank, something in between the American "Sheridan" and "Patton". Equipped with a 100mm cannon and a rooftop machine gun.

UAZ-469- good old "goat". Equipped with a stationary machine gun.

SCOOTER& mdash is a smart scooter. If you need to get from point A to point B as quickly as possible, then this is an irreplaceable solution. It can carry 2 people, and the passenger can fire from his weapon on the go.

ZSU-57-2- a self-propelled installation equipped with a dual anti-aircraft gun.

Let's call them like this: plain (aka - urban), river and sea.

Also on these maps, mortars are very effective, which should be installed on elevations near the enemy base, but within sight - this will help you to aim.

If you like the tactics of guerrilla warfare - enter the game as a mechanic and, having penetrated the enemy base, plant one mine in front of each vehicle, then hide, preferably in a room where there is a supply of ammunition to replenish the mines you have laid.

See you!

Battlefield Vietnam is the second installment of the iconic Battlefield series, released in mid-March 2004. The project was developed by the Digital Illusion CE studio and published by Electronic Arts.

As you might guess from the name of the game, it describes the events of the 60s - early 70s of the twentieth century, taking place in Southeast Asia, namely the Vietnam conflict. Battlefield Vietnam has been received differently by players and critics alike, making it a controversial product. Some praised him, and some criticized him on the contrary. We will try to understand the features of Battlefield Vietnam below, having considered all the positive and negative aspects of the game.

Features of Battlefield Vietnam

If in Battlefield 1942 we were offered to take part in the virtual Second World War on the side of the coalition or the Nazis, then the battlefield in the sequel was transferred to the humid and hot jungles of Vietnam. Where the United States tried in vain to promote its "democracy", and to put it bluntly - just fought for its influence in international relations. For Vietnam, it was, in fact, a civil war - the same nation fought with itself, North Vietnam against South Vietnam. The first, with their communist ideology, were supported by the USSR, China, North Korea and several small allied formations. The second was helped by the capitalist world led by the United States. Who personally took part in the conflict.

What is the whole story of history? To the fact that the support of each of the warring parties from the superpowers meant the presence of their most modern weapons. Which, of course, the developers carefully transferred to the game world. This means that the player has become noticeably more interesting - after all, the obsolete tanks from Battlefield 1942 managed to get bored with many, as well as outdated weapons with nightmarish accuracy and recoil, some, for complete happiness, were constantly overheating - this applies to machine guns.

As for the prehistory of the release of Battlefield Vietnam, then everything is simple. Electronic Arts has a tendency to fill its pockets to the maximum with a specific successful brand, making a minimum of changes to it. This was the case with the Need for Speed racing series, which remained practically unchanged for several years, having lost many of its fans. Much the same can be said for Battlefield Vietnam. Roughly speaking, this is the same Battlefield 1942, but based on a cosmetically modified engine and a new theme.

Indeed, there were very few changes. That said, Battlefield Vietnam is by no means a bad or unsuccessful game. Because its predecessor, on which the sequel is based, is certainly brilliant. And it seems so even now, despite the past years. The developers simply did not seek from good to good.

But still, in some ways the game has changed. In Battlefield Vietnam, the DeathMatch-style team cut is a thing of the past, with inviolable respawn spots for each team on all fourteen maps available. That is, it will not work to take out the enemy ahead of schedule, taking away all the control points.

The very system of determining the winner has remained the same - we are desperately breaking, like a long-distance sailor in the red light district, to the nearest outpost, where we try to keep it under our control, shooting enemies. After some time (the more allies are near you, the less time it will take), the flag of our team will rise above the flagpole. And you can choose to either guard the conquered outpost, or run and try to conquer another one.

Moreover, the second action makes sense - as in Battlefield 1942, in Battlefield Vietnam the team that controls more outposts "burns" the opponent's respawn tickets. When someone does not have these same tickets, this team loses.

To reach our goal, we are still offered a solid arsenal of weapons and equipment. For each of the parties, it is unique and almost completely corresponds in historical terms to real events, with rare exceptions. We will return to equipping the opposing sides, now we will continue to disassemble the basics of Battlefield Vietnam.

There are four classes of fighters in the game - machine gunner, engineer, sniper and anti-tank soldiers. An attentive reader will notice the absence of doctors - and this class, in the right hands, turned in the previous part almost into a cheat, thanks to the ability to constantly restore health to itself. In Battlefield Vietnam, however, everything is more fair and balanced.

With regard to weapons and equipment. Soldiers of North Vietnam can use weapons supplied from the USSR and China, as well as some trophy left over from the French. These are the TT-33 pistol, the Chinese version of the Soviet SKS carbine, AK, AKMS, MAT-49 assault rifles, Mosin and Dragunov sniper rifles with a telescopic sight, RPD machine guns, RPG-2 and RPG-7V anti-tank grenade launchers, as well as the Strela- 2.

In addition to the listed weapons, various hand grenades, booby-traps, and knives are available for the Viet Cong.

Equipment, like weapons, is also, in the main, donated by the USSR. These are the BTR-60 armored personnel carrier, the ZSU-57-2 self-propelled anti-aircraft gun, the T-54, PT-76 tanks (amphibious tank), the UAZ-469 off-road vehicle, the Sampan boat, as well as aviation - the MI-8 helicopter and MiG-jet fighters. 17 and MiG-21.

But that's not all. North Vietnam will be able to use the same means that they used in a real war - machetes, sickles, fences made of iron thorns, which are scattered everywhere and injure opponents, Punji - sharpened bamboo sticks that are stuck into the ground with their sharp side up and sprinkled with leaves or other natural cover. There are also logs with poisoned thorns, which are installed on the slopes of hills and propped up with special fasteners. There is also barbed wire, but it is also available to the US and South Vietnam.

By the way, here are the weapons of this side of the conflict - the Colt M1911 pistol, the Colt 1917 and M19 revolvers, the M14 automatic rifle, the M21 and M40 snipers with a telescopic sight, the well-known M16 assault rifle in modification A1, the CAR-15 automatic carbine, the Mossberg 500 shotgun, manual the M60 machine gun, the M79 hand grenade launcher (yes, the one that Arnie himself watered enemies with as the Terminator) and the M72 LAW disposable anti-tank grenade launcher. There are also hand grenades, booby traps, and knives, of course.

Of course, the United States and its allies also have their own equipment. These are armored personnel carriers M113, tanks M551 "Sheridan", M48 "Patton" III, M110 (self-propelled guns), helicopters AH-1 "Cobra", UH-1 "Iroquois", CH-47, aircraft F-4 "Phantom" II, A -7 "Corsair" II, as well as the patrol boat P. BR.

Since the upsides in Battlefield Vietnam are the same from the 1942 BF, we'll focus on the cons. Destruction, even the slightest, did not appear. Imagine a thin tree. Even if you run over it with a tank at full speed, nothing will happen to it (the tree). The same is true after exposure to napalm - it will not even deign to turn yellow, let alone burn ...

In the weapon, either intentionally or not, some imbalance was created. Because gallant American soldiers can carry both a heavy M60 machine gun and an anti-tank grenade launcher. Of course, I understand that Rambo is a very popular film, but this is just a fairy tale, and any soldier, even if he could carry such a weapon with him, would hardly want to do it. Realism and does not smell in this regard.

The optimization of the game turned out to be at a very weak level. At one time she "ate" a lot of resources, but it still loaded the levels for a terribly long time, and the number of frames per second was not impressive, as for a picture of this quality. In fact, an old engine was used, albeit a little patched up.

Artificial intelligence, both of our computer coalition colleagues and opponents, is again one of the weakest aspects of Battlefield Vietnam, as it was with its predecessor. Bots behave not only very stupidly, but often inadequately. Partially the situation is saved by the maximum level of difficulty, but even then solely due to the unrealistic accuracy of the opponents, but certainly not their more reasonable actions, alas.

As for the levels themselves, they often do not look like Vietnam at all. For those who have seen the movie "We Were Soldiers" or played the Vietcong game, the "jungle" in Battlefield Vietnam is more reminiscent of a pathetic patch of rare forest than the actual jungle itself. From time to time, the picture still pleases, but only from time to time.

At the end of the review, I will touch on the theme of the atmosphere. Here, too, everything is ambiguous. The graphics on the combination of "system requirements / image quality" looks very poor. Exceptions are character models, weapons and equipment, as well as good animation of movements. But against the background of a completely absent interactivity and very flabby physics, this is clearly not a compensation for flaws.

But the sound design is just flawless. Largely due to the sound, Battlefield Vietnam immerses the player in its world, not letting go for a long time. Shots, explosions, the noise of machinery engines, the noise of natural objects - everything is almost perfect.

But perfect sound alone is not enough to consider Battlefield Vietnam a top product. Let's move on to the results.

Conclusion

Battlefield Vietnam is, in general, a good action movie, a good continuation of Battlefield 1942. But the name of its predecessor is not without reason I named it. The sequel is practically ripped off from the first part, and in some places the patched engine cannot hide it. Adding new weapons and vehicles is really much easier than creating a completely new game with a new engine.

Having retained a number of advantages of the first part, Battlefield Vietnam also retained its shortcomings, and for complete happiness it also acquired some of its own, which did not exist before. Still, the game is worth getting to know. Lovers of the genre should take note of it.

Battlefield Vietnam- This is a continuation of the famous tactical shooter, where historical battles with our direct participation will unfold during the Vietnamese military conflict. We will be asked to choose one of the warring parties - the US-South Vietnam or the North Vietnamese army. You will find a huge number of large-scale maps that have been recreated from the real sites of the most violent battles of that old war. All maps have separate game scenarios, where in order to win it will be necessary to complete a certain number of tasks and incur as little losses as possible, all this will be taken into account when distributing points. Many of the elements were inspired by the creators of the famous films about this war, so while flying in a combat helicopter, you can listen to "Flight of the Valkyrie" like the heroes of the famous Hollywood movie "Apocalypse Now".

Features of the game

  • Compared to the previous part, the developers have done serious work on game models - objects, both static and movable, which began to look much more attractive.
  • The scale of the maps is striking; in small territories you cannot accelerate by plane or helicopter. The active use of technology is the basis of all victories in the game, the main thing is that this technique is destroyed much less often, otherwise you will not see the first stripes in the rating.
  • The designers have created several maps that correspond to the real places where the battles took place - Ho Chi Minh Trail, Battle of Hue, Ya-Drang Valley, Siege of Khesani and the Fall of Saigon, these are just some of those historical places where fierce battles took place and you had the opportunity to walk to these places in the role of an American or Vietnamese soldier, making his way through dense thickets under the hurricane fire of the enemy with a faithful Kalashnikov assault rifle or an M16 assault rifle at the ready.

Guerrilla war

The setting of the gameplay is not much different from the previous part - in each of the assigned missions you have to capture combat maps at certain points, simultaneously shooting the enemy from everything that comes to your hand. At each captured point, you can always revive after an untimely death and choose one of the four main combat specialties (the developers decided to abandon the medical profession). Migrated from the previous part and the ability to control combat vehicles. Here you will find everything your heart desires from stationary machine guns and mortars, to helicopters and tanks, all this can be controlled by shooting the enemy, who is tightly entrenched on the defensive lines not far from the next checkpoint.

The game is worth attention

Fans of team battles and tactical shooters can be calm, as long as such games exist, they will all have something to satisfy their warlike hunger. If you do not delve into the historical inconsistencies carefully, then the game will make you believe entirely in the presence on the battlefield of that distant war. When you see with your own eyes the handicraft weapons made by Vietnamese guerrillas to fight the capitalist invader or the famous combat vehicles of the American army. All doubts about the historical accuracy will disappear completely and you will be overwhelmed with the excitement of fighting an implacable enemy, blow up enemy fortifications, pour heavy fire on crowds of frightened enemies and get the deserved laurels of the winner.

Another creation from Electronic Arts on the topic of military actions of our century, this time it is the American war in Vietnam. The fighting takes place in Vietnam during the 60s and early 70s. By the way, the soundtrack for the game is in the style of those times, and such performers of the times of the psychedelic revolution as Jeffersons Airplane and Tom Jones, undoubtedly, give a certain charm to the game.

The game, by and large, supports only one mode - multiplayer, and what is called "single" is nothing more than the same multiplayer mode, but with bots (artificial intelligence), the level and number of which can be selected from the menu. Now about the menu and the interface: in general, everything is very simple and straightforward, even for a player who has sat down for a game of this type for the first time. The only hitch can arise when setting up the control keys, since they are divided into several subsections: permanent, when playing as an infantry, flying vehicles, controlling sea vehicles.

If the enemies overpowered you and you were killed, choose a friendly point on the map, after a few seconds you will appear at the place you have chosen and you can continue the battle.

M-21 Sniper Rifle- a standard sniper carbine, with a good scope, a fairly fast reload mechanism and a magazine for 10 rounds.

M-60& mdash light machine gun. Although the classification of "light" is not entirely fair.

It can hit flying objects at a distance of up to 4 kilometers, an excellent weapon for air defense. The downside is that maximum efficiency is achieved when firing either at slow-flying targets, or at targets flying in a straight line. It is almost impossible to hit an aircraft performing a sharp maneuver.

Specificity of troop types

Infantry- if you like shootouts, melee, explosions and death around - this is your element. The greatest number of defeated enemies is precisely the merit of the infantry. The only drawback is the low resistance to armored vehicles, in this case you should rely only on grenades, of which there are not so many.

Mechanics& mdashuniversal fighters. They have everything in their arsenal for conducting combat operations in any conditions.

Sniper& mdash he's a sniper in Africa.

To use, you need to approach the machine and press the "use" key.

ATC- sea transport, with an onboard gun, machine guns and a platform for landing / repairing helicopters.

Well suited for long-range stance strikes.

MI-8 CARGO- a transport modification of the Mi-8, with an open tailgate, passengers can shoot from their own weapons, sitting on the edge.

MIG-17& mdash a light fighter equipped with a machine gun.

MIG-21- an interceptor fighter armed with machine guns and a rocket launcher.

PT-6- a floating tank, equipped with a 76 mm cannon and a machine gun on the roof. Due to its ability to float, it has thin armor and low speed.

Let's call them like this: plain (aka - urban), river and sea. On flat the map has only land, that is, all actions take place in one area, usually a city.

There is no point in using the technique, since it is quite difficult to spot an enemy with a grenade launcher among the ruins. And the enemy usually attacks with large forces, so here it is better to choose the option of mass destruction than a pinpoint strike. An infantryman or a sniper is best suited for this.

If you like the tactics of guerrilla warfare - enter the game as a mechanic and, having penetrated the enemy base, plant one mine in front of each vehicle, then hide, preferably in a room where there is a supply of ammunition to replenish the mines you have laid.

See you!
